A Poem for My Beloved
So much for what is common,
So much for what is "right",
We belong together -
Tender kisses in the night.
I hold you in my arms
Not wanting to release you;
Not even for a moment,
Not even just to tease you.
And so, my Love, this poem ends,
I hope you liked it well,
But sadly, in this poem
There's not all I wish to tell:
This poem cannot tell you
What it's like to feel your lips
Gently pressing against mine,
The beating heart you cause to skip
Whenever you are near me.
I gaze into your eyes,
And share in that unspoken bond
That merely echoes what's inside.
So any time you read this,
If you're lonely in your bed,
Remember this poem's meaning
Is in what I haven't said.
