A Flower in My Garden
I planted a flower in my garden
And watched it grow.
It looked at my one day and said,
"Why does it rain when I want sun?"
I took it inside and laid it on the sill,
Where it's always sunny and never rains.
And my flower died.
I planted a flower in my garden
And watched it grow.
It looked at me one day and said,
"Why is the soil dry when I want it wet?"
I took it inside and laid it in the sink,
Where its soil was always wet and never dry.
And my flower died.
I planted a flower in my garden
And watched it grow.
I gave it rain, I gave it sun.
Its soil was never too wet nor too dry.
It looked at me one day and said,
"Why am I here?"
I planted a flower in my garden
And watched it grow.
It survived floods and droughts,
Harsh winds and humidity.
Indeed my flower grew, and made others of its kind.
They asked of each other, "Why are we here?"
I planted a flower in my garden
And from my window, I watch it grow.
