Mock Reader Assignmnet

Angelica walked down the crowded school hallway. Slim, blonde and captain of the cheerleading squad, navigating the labyrinthe of the overpopulated high school was no problem for her, everyone simply stepped aside

"Natalie, hi!" Angelica called across the foyer to her shorter, chocolate-haired friend. Natalie, unlike the trim Angelica, had no interest in the school's various sports teams. It was obvious to anybody who met her, by her think glasses, that she was a no-nonsense, straight-A student.

"Hi, Angelica," Natalie replied timidly, clutching her Algebra textbook tighter to her chest in Angelica's presence.

"Do you have my chemistry homework for me?" Angelica asked, slipping her arm through Natalie's in a friendly manner. "Mr. Trombeau has been after me, like, all week to hand it in."

Natalie leafed through her assortment of papers, presently handing the cheerleader her truant homework.

"I'm sorry it's so late, Angelica... the National Math Contest Finals were this week and it was hard for me to find the time to do both."

"Well, just don't let it happen again." Flipping her blonde tresses over her shoulder in a fashion that melted the hearts of every boy in the school, Angelica took her chemistry papers from Natalie's trembling hand and turned to walk away.

"Angelica," Natalie interjected, surprising the both of them, "do you want to, um, hang out today... after school?"

The cheerleader pouted in mock despair. "Oh, Natalie! Chris is driving some of the cheerleaders to Dairy Queen after school, and there's just no room for you. But I'll tell you what: if I pass the huge history test you've been helping me study for, I'll let you sit with me at lunch for a little bit."

At this blessing, Natalie grinned and watched Agelica's form recede with a coquettish sway of the hips into the mob of students.
