From Sarah's Diary:
Day One
On Wednesday morning Joseph and I travelled around London to film the footage for our iMovie. We had planned a video project about homeless people and we filmed on location in Leicester Square, Soho, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. The Newsround film crew were supposed to be shadowing us but our mobile phones rang continually with BBC staff trying to find out where we were. They simply couldn’t keep up with our pace! When they did arrive Joseph and I just kept on filming, not worrying about what they were up to. Back at the Royal College of Art the Newsround Team interviewed me to find out what I thought of the tiny DV camcorders we were using. They filmed me while I edited my video clips on the iMac and I explained how the iMovie software works. We then prepared the introduction and voice-overs for the Newsround programme. The BBC team then left Joseph and me to finish our editing, while they went to finish theirs. It was a long and hectic day, but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
