SEEMINGS

Seemings:

The older the fae, the more power they have, but also the more banality they have. Banality is stasis, noncreativity, and disbelief. Think of when you were little and the wonderment of the idea of Santa Claus, now you laugh at the idea. This is the same with the Changelings. The older one gets, the further away from the Dreaming they get, and the less creative they get. Fae turn from little Childlings that have to be made to go to bed ((And have to really deal with the monster-under-the-bed)), thru to the teenage and young adult Wilders who make up the body of the fae, to the aging but wise Grumps that are into their autumn years.

Childlings-- (Ages 3 to 13) These are the fae still filled with wild magination and energy. Their vast stores of glamor and innocence normally fuel other fae to look forward into life. These young, but surprisingly wise children find all sorts of mischief, from climbing trees to looking into that "Spooky old man's house" Childling's imaginations turn their world into a continuous fairytale.

Wilders--(Ages 13 to 25) This the age of most Changelings. Changelings gain banality with age so quickly now days, they rarely stay Childlings long. This is the time of finding new feelings and going on great adventures. At this age, they understand more than the Childlings, but are not as cynical as the Grumps. Wildlings live in a sea of emotions, not only from each other, but also in running away from the restrictions of youth and staying away from the responsibilities of adulthood.

Grumps--(Ages 26 and up) Grumps have lose their innocence and many are "stuck in their ways." They are normally called "greybeards" regardless of age and gender. They are the wisest and most powerful of the fae, but also the frailest. Their grip on the real world is so strong, some loose their fae seeming forever. They have sacrificed their knowledge and willpower for the ability to laugh easily. On the edge of falling into banality, and knowing it the whole time, the grumps want to past down their knowledge to the young, if only they would stop to listen.
