Interior: Before/After

This is how the interior looked during most of the summer of 1998. I had it parked for nearly 2 months in the garage. It took me almost three week to take everything out, sand everything down, and have it ready to be painted. As you can see in the first picture, you can tell there wasn't much left in it after I got done taking mostly everything out. The dash was completly taken apart. Everything was taken out except for the ignition switch which you can still see in the first picture. The top arrow in the second picture shows how bad the rust was above the windsheild. The pinky colored stuff is where I filled in the rusted out corners of the door jam. The arrow at the bottom shows how bad it was rusted out along the rocker panel. The tanish colored stuff is more body filler after it was sanded smooth.

One Saturday morning, I pulled out my air compressor and spray gun and decided to paint everything. I put two coats of "Smurf Blue" (as I call it) paint and it took forever to dry! It took me around 30-45 minutes to paint each coat. Since it was a humid day, the paint didn't turn out as well as I hoped it would. It has signs of "orange peel" all over. Not only did I paint the dash and the ceiling, I also painted the gas tank (which you can see behind me) and I also went ahead and painted the floor too.

New chrome dash bezel

This is a brand new dash bezel that I bought off of ebay really cheap. Well, maybe not "really cheap", but let's just say I got it for less than if I were to order it through a company. Usually they cost around $75.00 - $90.00, and I got it for only $42.00. But anyways, I don't know if you can really tell, but if you look close enough you can see that I painted the needles on the gauges to match the truck..... smurf blue. It's just a little added touch that draws attention. :) Also in this picture... you can see one of the old dash bezels that came off of the truck. Actually, this is one of the three that I now own. I own two old ones and one new one. That's one thing I've learned about restoring vehicles.... you always end up with more parts than you started with; this is a good example..... and for the record..... I've also got another complete set of gauges too :) hehehe
