A Heavenly Place

A Heavenly Place: The Book Cover

"You know, this is a really interesting book -- you'll find out a lot about me." -- Jaci Velasquez, Fall 1998 (as she autographs my book cover)

Introduction

I think the hardest thing for me to deal with is my emotions and how I feel about things. It's not always easy for me to express all that I have bottled up inside me to others – or even to myself. That's why writing this book wasn't easy. I've been very honest about my life and why it's not necessarily a perfect one, though sometimes it may feel like a fairy tale or look like one from the outside.

It seems like just yesterday I was a little kid, and the most important thing to me was who I got to play with and what games we got to play. There are so many truly important tings in my life now, and as you get older, you'll begin to see what some of those things are for you. It's really kind of scary for me to share parts of my story with you, but I'm doing it for a reason: I'm still learning some important life lessons everyday, and I hope that some of the experiences I'm sharing here will help you understand your place in the world, and possibly help you and your parents understand each other a little better as well.

We all travel different paths as we journey here on earth, but our experiences as Christians facing challenges and celebrating life are quite similar. I hope as you read my story that you'll agree.

-Jaci

"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of
God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the
Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness
from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first
to last, just as it is written: 'The righteous will live by faith.'"
-Romans 1:16-17
