Mattie Lou (Freeman) Stroman
Born in Clark's Hill, South Carolina on May6, 1918. She was the tenth of twelve children born to Gracie Williams and Willie Freeman. The family lived on a farm in South Carolina. Her father, Willie Freeman, was a pastor and her mother kept house.
After Mattie moved to Philadephia she met and married Booker Stroman on May 25, 1942. The marriage was witnessed by the groom's brother and a Helen Allen. Atthe time of her marriage Mattie had been living at 2328 North Lambert Street.
Mattie and Booker's union produced seven children. Constance, Robert, Diana Grace, Booker L., Katherine and David Allen.
Mattie Lou passed away on December 2, 1996. She is interred at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Philadelphia. She is very much missed.
