WHEN THE DEAL TEAMS ANALYSIS
March 24th The Mets trade Donie Bush, Ron Willis, and future considerations for Goose Goslin, Max Bishop, and Matt Young.

Chicago fills the void at second with the speedster Bush, and obtains some bullpen support with the underrated Ron Willis. The Cubs also receive two draft choices in the trade. If Goose Goslin can return to form, the Mets will make out all right. Max Bishop and Matt Young are throw-in's with little value.
ADVANTAGE: CHICAGO
March 14th The Rangers acquire Bob Locker from the Cardinals for a free-agent draft choice (Greg Cadaret)

Texas adds an experienced reliever to the bullpen and the Cardinals use the draft choice wisely for some left-handed relief in the forgotten arm of Cadaret.
ADVANTAGE: N/A
March 8th The Mariners move Jose Pagan to the Cardinals for a free-agent draft choice (Ken Rowe)

The Cardinals get their slick fielding shortstop in this minor deal. Ken Rowe will add a little depth back into the Mariners bullpen after the departure of Howie Krist.
ADVANTAGE: N/A
Feb. 27th The Cubs deal Vida Blue, Yogi Berra, and a 1st round draft choice (Marius Russo) to the Rangers for Red Rolfe and a 2nd round draft choice (Johnny Murphy)

Chicago fills the hotcorner with a solid bat in Rolfe, and Texas adds a talented and versatile pitcher in Russo. Underachievers Berra and Blue for closer Johnny Murphy make this trade a wash.
ADVANTAGE: N/A
Feb. 26th The Cubs trade Tony Perez to the Cardinals for a 1st round draft choice (Marius Russo)

Russo was too valuable to pass up for a team in need of bullpen help. Tony Perez is a useful guy, but the Cardinals have plenty of depth at 1B and in the outfield.
ADVANTAGE: CHICAGO
Feb. 26th The Rangers send Joe DiMaggio to the New York Mets for Juan Marichal, Billy Rogell, Carlos Baerga, Gee Walker, and two 1st round draft choices (Red Rolfe & George Selkirk)

The Rangers shocked the league when they traded Joltin' Joe just hours after they drafted him. But Texas got a jump start on what has shaped up to be a rather formidible lineup. The Mets obviously land an impact player, but at what price?
ADVANTAGE: TEXAS
