REGARDING THE NIKITA MUSIC...
I've noticed the same music questions seemed to be raised over and over, so I created my own Q & A and Links page to complement that site and its mailing list, and the other sites with my Buying Guide, which provides easy access (and great prices!) by hot links to places where you can buy the sometimes hard-to-find LFN music. The Band Sites page links to sites specifically requested by fans for Vibrolux, Clove, Mandalay, Kat Rocket, Rhea's Obsession, and many many others.

La Femme Nikita evolved, as any good program should, but still needed those kinds of scenes to keep it fresh and unique. It began as a sparkling diamond amid the dreck of same-same-same television fare. It's not X-Files, it's not Twilight Zone, it's not an Obsession commercial ca. 1988. It was a rare and beautiful gem that lost its polish, humor, and the massive impact & power afforded by a clever backing track. And it lost its lease on life. Today, May 6, 2000, we are grateful for some extraordinary television, and bid goodbye to production. We knew it was coming, but we reel with shock anyway, and shed a tear...
Love -- who can forget that powerful tag as Nikita's frustration reaches its climax?
Charity -- Michael confronting Alec -- made all the more threatening, yet also humorous, by perfectly-chosen source music
Escape -- can anyone ever get over the seduction, when we were all as mesmerized as Nikita was?
Simone -- the stylized scene of Michael and Nikita -- tall, powerful, striking -- striding coolly in step to a retro-arcade, against a stark blue sky, is probably the one scene that crystallizes the feeling, the statement, the essence of what I thought this show was trying to present to its audience.
but, almost the all-time most popular/memorable scene among the widest array of viewers, the one that first grabbed my eye and ear and made me and many others call ourselves fans was the brilliant teaser of
Rescue -- that scene of a frenzied, doomed firefight, with its attendant panic, its horror -- a silent scream, juxtaposed with the softly undulating rhythmn and mournful wail of Enigma's Beyond the Invisible. That scene's impact cannot be denied. It was so compelling, I couldn't turn away from it, and I am hard to impress, just never had been a regular viewer of any TV series, but that teaser with its contrasting elements locked me in as a fan, instantly.
QUESTIONS FROM THE FOLKS...
Q: Can I buy sheet music for the Michael/Nikita theme?
A: Sorry, this has been asked of the composer, Sean Callery, and (as yet, anyway) no sheet musicQ: Will there be a second LFN Soundtrack?
A: We all want more more more LFN music, but we Sean Callery, composer of the fine Nikita themes, has a full cd ready. SEPTEMBER 2001: BUY IT NOW! Contact LFN CD and hurry, demand is high!Q: What was that song played in Season Three episode Hand to Hand during the water-fight scene?
A: That's the amazing and unique Rhea's Obsession, their song called Death By Moonlight. (sounds as if it was written just for that scene, doesn't it? And it's been used before, in Season One, Choice)Q: Where can I find Diego Marulanda's La Cumbia La Cumbia from Season One episode Treason?
A: There's been some confusion as to the spelling of his name, but Diego Marulanda (with an "l" not a "j") and his band Pacande are a Toronto-based indie Latin band, the songs from Treason are on their first cd -- La Verraquera! -- available at HMV and other online Canadian stores on this page. Read more about this band HEREQ: Where in this hemisphere can I get that Moonsocket cd, The Best Thing?
A: Whew! Your problem is solved! No more hounding your Canadian friends -- for what works out to be $10.85 US Dollars, you can buy that and other Moonsocket cds RIGHT HERE at HMV , the highly regarded music store. (you must search this band as one word, now! it used to be accessible only by putting a space between the words, but now MUST be searched at HMV as one word: Moonsocket -- it's on the cd Best Thing )Q: Where on earth can I find that Mandalay cd with Please on it?
A: Be careful -- it's not on their cd "EMPATHY", which is available at most online stores (unless you find a European version with a bonus track, so watch out!) If you don't believe me, click here for the track listing. The song from Nikita, called "Please" is -- according to those who have purchased it -- on the 3-track cd This Life. The tracks are This Life, Please and Running Down. V V R 5000113 is the number of that cd (or at least that's one of the cds "Please" is definitely on). You should find their full discography under Mandalay here at Music Imports. Check other European or import online stores. This cd has also been purchased at several places in the UK, including CD Paradise, Yalplay, CD Zone -- or, click and find info here at CDDB Give it time -- sometimes imports take up to a month to arrive, but they eventually do! Good luck, and if you find a better place, that hasn't sold out of the cd, please let me know and I'll post that info!Q: What is that piece of classical music played by Michael/Roy on the cello in Gates of Hell?
A: French composer Gabriel Fauré's "Elegie, Op.24".Q: What is the translation of Cun Lacoudhir, the song from Escape in Season One?
A: See below!Q: What are the words and translation of the Jacques Brel song Le Bourgeois, from Season Two episode Half Life?
A: See the LYRICS page!
On the La Femme Nikita soundtrack cd released in 1998, the Vibrolux song on the track list is incorrectly labeled as "Drown" (from the episode Choice ) when the song on the cd was actually another Vibrolux song,"Ground". Apparently, according to Sara, a fan, in subsequent issuances of the cd, this error has been labeled to reflect the correct song.
Vibrolux , with their song "Mind", and Holly Cole Trio, with "Neon Blue" have also contributed to the dueSouth soundtracks.
In addition to their two contributions to Nikita - "Cun Lacoudhir" in episode Escape , and "Death By Moonlight" in episodes Choice and Hand to Hand , Canadian band Rhea's Obsession has also contributed a song, "Anxia" to the tv series Psi Factor.
