Author's Notes: I wrote the first two stanzas of this about 2
yrs ago and although I would go back to it I could never get any farther.
I can see now it was waiting for me to meet the boys. So obviously the
lines about Marietta & Georgia aren't linked to Josiah, but hey, he's
traveled around alot...he coulda lived there

Josiah
Rising up from Marietta, I've got Georgia on my mind
As I cross over the Delta and I search for the Divine.
There are miles out before me, don't know what will befall
me
But with a bottle and a ros'ry I'll seek my destiny.
And entwined into my soul are the memories I've created
They're a symbol of my hope and the pains they have abated.
I've walked beside the Devil and I've ridden through the
sunsets
And the towns I leave behind will be how I measure success.
It's said each man has a mission, I believe I'm building
mine.
A stone for every past sin I've committed in my time.
Building up to make atonement, I offer no excuses
I just wish to make amends for my transgressions and abuses.
If seven is the wave of love, figure I'm a step ahead
'Cause I walk with six dark angels who've the crow above
their head.
But if the black bird tries to take one, He'll have first
to pass through me
I've their spirits in my keeping, He's not earned that liberty.
Rising up from Marietta, I've got a purpose on my mind
As I trust in my conviction to keep together those aligned
By Destiny or Kismet, by Karma or by Fate.
I'll keep watch over my brothers and make the black bird
wait.
