Mulder and Scully are taken off the X-Files and have a new authority to report to: A.D. Kersh. Gibson Praise, the little boy who can read minds, is trapped as an alien being threatens anew. Fowley works with then entraps Mulder, leaving us to wonder whose side she's really on.

Mulder is trapped in a car with a man who holds a gun to his head and insists that Mulder drive at high speeds. Apparently, he has a life-threatening condition that requires these speeds or he will die.

Scully is placed on a case with Agent Peyton Ritter, which Mulder insists in an X-File. Alfred Fellig has a knack for taking pictures of peoples' deaths; he says that he knows when people will die. It turns out that he missed his chance to die some 100 odd years or so, and wants to take a photograph of Death so that he can look into Death's face and finally die. Only, he takes one look at Scully at gets his camera ready...

At the behest of Arthur Dales, Mulder and Scully go to a stormy Florida to investigate a family's disappearance. They take shelter in an apartment building, only to realize that a creature made of sea-water (reminiscent of "The Abyss") with murderous impluses have followed them.

A bad day keeps
getting worse for Mulder and Scully. They are
stuck in some kind of a time loop, where sometimes Mulder
gets shot and sometimes he doesn't, but always, the bomb
goes off and they die. The loop won't end until
they both don't die. They start to realize that
things are amiss when memories start "bleeding" through
from previous experiences of the same day.
