The Spice Girls are some of the best girl pop singers around. Their pipes have sung some great tunes and no doubt there are many more on the way.
How did they get their start? About five years ago, Melanie Christholm, Geraldine Haliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Addams and Melanie Brown answered a news paper ad asking for girls who could sing and dance. When the spectacular five showed up, they were put in apartments and were given voice lessons.
Now they are major super stars. Not only are they pop stars but movie stars too. Their movie, Spice World, which was released in '97, is about five days in the lives of the spice girls which leads down to a concert.
They've been spreading the word to young people, telling them to follow their dreams. "We were eating beans on toast and now we've been all the way around the world and back again. It shows that whatever you want you can do it," they reported in an interveiw with MTV.
