SPECIAL FRIENDS IN LIFE

When I'm alone, my thoughts tend to drift,

To friends, who have shown, a very special gift,

They have taught me well, to trust, to care,

That knowing them, our lives we can share.

We hear the pain of others, in our chats,

Lending a shoulder, a hug, sometimes a pat,

It isn't enough for me, at times, just the words,

I want to touch, to hug, not just to be heard.

I want to repay the trust, friends have shown,

But the payment they want, is none, it is known.

True friendship is given, without thought of a debt,

I have found this to be so, mind startling still yet.

Each friend I have, is special indeed,

I have many hurts, at times many needs,

They touch a tender spot, deep in my soul,

Giving me comfort, to make me feel whole.

Some make me laugh, others start me to think,

That my life is special, not just on the brink,

I wish to tell all the world, of all my friends,

This page is a small way, to make some amends.

I give of my heart, to all I find dear,

My poetry is my gift, to all who will hear,

The special ones, they know, who they are,

My words of friendship, they go near and far.
