Good Behind the Evil
Porn, stolen music, stalkers scream the news! Our society looks for evil in every walk of life. The internet can be evil, but a refuge for shy, quiet, and lonely people. The goodness is overlooked; it is not a great news story. What a shame!
Many people, including me, can find refuge in a computer. My only safe source of companionship. People scare me; I am one to be very quiet. In the world today rudeness rules, manners have been forgotten. Some people feel out of place, because of their gentle ways. I am content to meet people who live all over the world, through the computer. Air travel for most is a luxury, only to be dreamed about. Making friends on the computer freely share their pictures, they bring the world closer. The barriers are broken down. We view other nations as they should be viewed, individual human beings with different cultural backgrounds.
The internet help many people to show their true feelings. They hide behind their computers releasing inner hopes, dreams, and fears. Great worries can be told to the faceless people. Talking face to face with another person is more difficult than typing to a monitor. No one will know the true identity of an individual, unless the person tells the information.
Laughter and tears play a part in the forming of friendships. Jokes are told, creating a bond. Deaths are told of, which make a lot stop and think, how mortal and vulnerable every person is. People from all over the world have problems. Some face major obstacles, just waking up. Pain is shared through words.
Computers have come a long way since the beginning. Headsets, voice programs, and video toys have made the internet more personal. Now we see a person and hear their voices. We know their moods, their tears, and their laughter. It brings the human aspect to the computer. We become friends with people that we may never touch, except by our words.
