Dave's Story

A true good person is very rare in this world. Gentle souls are like rare jewels, very sparce and truely worth a king's randsom. Great pain has been inflicted on the gentle souls, which is what makes them so compassionate to others. Trials in their lives makes a strong spirit, and creates a sense of finding happiness in everyday living.

One friend of mine, Dave has survived a great tragedy in his lifetime, which in turn created the gentleman he is today. Dave married later in life, because he found the woman who was his soulmate, her name is Ann. A son was born and brought great joy to their lives. A little girl was born later, and their family was complete. No human being should ever suffer the loss of a child, but this couple lost their little girl when she was a baby.

After the loss of a child many people find themselves falling apart. The death of a child does terrible things to the parent's minds. Divorce happens with half the couples when a child dies. Their marriage was strong, but it took a long time for the healing to begin.

Years passed, and life treated them with kind regards.

Suddenly Ann started getting sick, Hospital stays grew longer for her. The doctors were baffled, not knowing the cause or the cure. Dave started his own research online to help his beloved wife, Ann.Traveling back and forth to the hospital, doing research and keeping their house clean was wearing him down. Ann's health was failing terribly Dave received more tragic news. His brother had passed away from cancer. He could not even travel to attend his brother's funeral because Ann was so sick, he thought he would lose her too.

Dave would come into the chat room and sit very quiet, the death of his brother and his wife's health going downhill weighed heavily on his mind. A year later along with numerous hospital stays and different theraphies Ann's health started to improve. His research helped the doctors find the answers to allow Ann a glimmer of a normal life. Her health is still a top priority but she is growing stronger.

Dave has prodded me to develop my writings. He has gently guided me by example in many areas. He has touched my life, and I know I have touched his family's lives too.

I am very proud to call Dave and his family my dear good friends. Dave deserves to know his special, loving, kind ways are always welcome to the world. People like him are rare and very precious.

This poem was written for him.

TRUE GIFT

My true dear friend, has had a loss,
one so deep, a horrible cost,
he shows his strength, by loving all,
he gives a gift, to those who call.

Nothing ever does he ever ask,
except to be a friend, to the last,
Gentle, kind, a patient soul,
the hurt he endured created the whole.

Our trials, pains, our great grand times,
make us what we are in our minds,
The hurt that was incurred in him,
make this man, a total gem.

Acceptance is a way of life,
he knows we all have troubles and strife,
he hears the pain, and knows it's cost,
his heart does weep, for others loss.

He gives a gift of caring and thought,
you know it's real, it can't be bought,
You feel the arms of comfort given,
his words, his heart makes life worth living.

The words he shares, are from his heart,
this friend of mine, is oh so smart,
he gives one gift, a precious thing,
the trust of a friend, it makes a heart sing.

The hurt is deep, in some of us,
the love he gives, it has no lust,
the arms he uses to comfort you,
you feel the love, and know it's true.

The pain you feel, late in the night,
is lessened by a friend, you know he is right
He tells you time will ease all pain,
the one he has, it still remains.

He tells you of a pain so raw,
you feel the tears, and know it all,
it tears your soul, to hear of this,
his lovely child will be missed.

His story told, you know it is true,
his words of hope, they comfort you,
His pain is there, you hear it beat,
because time heals, it makes it bittersweet.

Update to Dave's Story

Ann, Keith, Mary, and I lost this wonderful man on July 13, 2006, on his 63rd birthday. Doctor's had found cancer in his esophagus and had started chemotherapy. Dave had not been able to keep solids down for a period of time and had lost weight. He had a heart attack the day after his first chemo treatment. Not a day will pass that we will not miss Dave. I miss his wisdom, wit, and his brotherly love he extended to me for a long time. The people who are left behind mourn the loss we feel because he is not with us anymore, Heaven gained an angel.

Here is Dave's webpage he had worked on for many years.
