The Garden of Eden

God created a garden in the East, Eden.
From the ground, God planted all kinds of plants.
Plants that were beautiful to the eye,
And plants that provided food.
In the middle of the garden,
God planted the tree of life,
and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
God took dust of the ground (dirt) and made
a man, his name was Adam.
God told Adam he could eat from any tree,
except the two trees in the center of the garden.
God told Adam that if he ate from the tree of life he would die.
God brought every animal and bird and asked
Adam to named them.
Where do you supposed Adam came up with elephant and hippotamus?

God knew Adam needed a companion.
He put Adam into a deep sleep,
He removed one of Adam's ribs.
From this rib he made woman.
Adam called her Eve.
Adam and Eve were naked, but they did not know that they were.
They were not ashamed.

One day a serpent came into the garden.
The serpent asked Eve if God forbid them to eat of the trees
in the Garden.
Eve told the serpent that they could eat of every tree in the
Garden, except the one in the middle of the garden.
She told the serpent that God said they would die if they ate from it.
The serpent told Eve that they would not die, that their eyes would be
opened and that God knew they would be like gods knowing good from evil.
The serpent tempted Eve into eating the fruit.
Eve picked fruit from the tree and ate it.  Then she gave Adam some to eat.
Then their eyes opened.
*NOTE:  Adam and Eve were sinless until they disobeyed God and ate the fruit.
If Adam and Eve would not have eaten the fruit and turned from temptation,
they would have lived forever.  The tree of life, and the tree of knowledge of
good and evil did two things when they ate of it.  1.) They ate of it and now they
would no longer live forever.  2.)  They knew sin.  They were naked, and now they
were ashamed of it.  They knew that they had done wrong.
They knew they were naked.
So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
They heard the voice of  God.
They hid themselves from God because they knew they were naked.
God called to them, and Adam answered God.
"I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself."
God asked Adam, "Who told you that you were naked?"
"Have you eaten the fruit of the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?"
Adam said, "The woman whom you gave me to be with me, gave me fruit
of the tree and I did eat."
God said to Eve, "What is this you have done?"
Eve said, "The serpent tempted me and I ate."

Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God made them leave the Garden of Eden.
Adam and Eve had to work for their food now.  They had to kill animals to make their
clothing.  They had to till the ground to plant vegetables and fruit to eat.  This is why we
do these things today.
