============================================================= Welcome to the Help Page for Rapidweather's Weather Maps Page ============================================================= Update: March 9, 2006: Some intellicast weather maps have a "floating" advertisement placed in the center of the weather map. In some cases, you may not be able to see all of the weather map because of the advertisement. To view the weather map in your web browser, right click on the map, in an area away from the advertisement, and then select "Open Image". The weather map, without the advertisement will then be viewable in your web browser's main window. Another way to move the "floating" advertisement away from your weather map area is to scroll down, and then up. The advertisement should remain below the weather map area. This has been tested in the Opera 8.52 web browser for Linux. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Bug Report: (12-21-03) Reviewed, March 20, 2005 For users of Windows XP only. Intellicast Weather Maps and Windows XP: Using Windows XP, with the Kerio Firewall, the intellicast.com weather maps may show an "error-image" instead of the weather map. Browsers tested that have this happen are Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firebird. You will get an image that says, "Incomplete Image Request Received" instead of the weather map image that you wanted. This may be because the firewalls are blocking cookies served by intellicast from another server, and without the cookie, the map will not load correctly. This is just a guess, the real cause is unknown. To get a map once you are on the intellicast site, click on "Select new view" at the bottom right hand corner of the "error-image" map, and pick a City, and that map should now load correctly. ==================================================================== A further review of the intellicast map problems conducted on March 20, 2005 reveals that some maps received from intellicast will appear, but the radar overlay will not be present. In that case, either a reload of the page, or a revisit to the page, will make the map, with radar, appear correctly. This error occurred with Mozilla Firefox 1.01, with some of the plugins not installed as required by intellicast. ==================================================================== Another problem concerned the "highways" and "counties", etc. overlays on some intellicast maps, not applying when the checkboxes are checked. This occurs using Mozilla Firefox, on Windows XP. ==================================================================== In review: Rapidweather.com tests the maps on the Weather Maps Page often, to make sure that the links on the page work as intended. Test Operating Systems include Windows XP, Windows 98, Red Hat Linux, Mandrake Linux, Debian Linux, Slackware Linux, SuSE Linux, MacOS 7.5.3 and Arachne 1.70 for MS-DOS. Browsers tested are Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, MozillaFirebird, and Opera. All of these systems and browsers can display intellicast maps obtained from Rapidweather's Weather Maps page correctly, except for Windows XP. Now, there are some cases where problems exist outside of Windows, in Linux operating systems. It is possible to go directly to http://intellicast.com in any browser in Windows XP to obtain your weather map, rather than use Rapidweather's Weather Maps page. Apparently, if you enter their site through the main entrance, you can get the maps you want if you can locate them. There are many useful maps provided on Rapidweather's Weather Maps Page, from several sources, to give you a choice, and to allow you to obtain radar maps of your area. In the event that a map will not display correctly, or is otherwise unavailable, you will have other weather maps to use. =================================================== Location of this page: http://www.angelfire.com/ms/telegram/map_info.txt
