Destiny

Chapter 1

“Kara this is Scott and Max, and you already know Adam,” Christie introduced them.

“Hi,” Kara said quietly.

Christie flipped her blond hair over her shoulder and took her boyfriend Adam’s hand and headed towards the door of the house that the party was at.

Kara quietly followed, since she had just met the others. She had her long brown hair pulled up in a ponytail and wore jeans and a tank top, trying to dress kind of like Christie, to fit in.

Inside Christie introduced her to her other friends, Tiffany and her boyfriend Jake, and Melanie and her friend Darren.

“Kinda looks like half a make out party doesn’t it?” Kara joked to Melanie, pointing out Tiffany and Jake in the corner.

“You’re right, it does,” Melanie agreed, laughing.

“Kara, come sit with me, Adam and Scott!” Christie said, pulling Kara away, to sit on the couch with them.

“Why so quiet?” Adam asked Kara.

“Oh! I’m just shy when I meet people for the first time,” She replied. “Most of the people here are really cool and friendly, only a couple stuck up ones,” Scott stated.

“Cool,” Kara said, smiling as she looked at Scott’s kinda spiky brown hair and brown eyes.

“You’ll get used to us,” He said, joking. Kara smiled, “I’m used to everyone, I’m still shy though,” She said.

Christie and Adam got up and started dancing then Christie waved Kara over. “Lets boogie,” She said, giggling.

Kara started to dance, and then Scott joined. The four of them danced in a group. “Hey you’re a great dancer, why don’t you come clubbing with us tomorrow night? It’s Saturday, perfect night for dancing,” Adam suggested.

“Sure, sounds fun,” Kara answered.

“You?” Christie asked Scott.

“Sorry I can’t come. I have to help my dad paint the house, ugh,” Scott replied, making a face of bordem, “Think Tiff and Jake will actually dance tomorrow night?” He teased. Kara laughed, “Probably not.” Scott smiled.

(Later)

“Ask Scott to dance,” Christie whispered, in Kara’s ear, when a slow song came on.

Kara went and sat beside Scott. “Feel like dancing?” She asked quietly.

Scott shook his head, “Nah, I’m a bad dancer.:

“Ok,” Kara said getting up, when she turned around again, Melanie was pulling him off the couch making him dance. He looked happy.

‘He just doesn’t want to dance with me,’ She thought. Kara was starting to walk towards Scott when he stood up and put his jacket on. He walked over to Adam and said, “I gotta jet, see ya!” And he left.

Chapter 2 (The Next Night)

Kara, Christie, Tamira, Adam, Max, Jake and Tiffany arrived at the night club. Christie was wearing a short red dress and was holding onto Adam’s hand. Kara wore less revealing clothes. She wore a short blue miniskirt and a tank top, and was really quiet.

“Let’s find some hotties,” Tamira whispered in Kara’s ear. Kara nodded and laughed, “Sounds good!”

When they got inside in one area it was really smoky. “This is more than I expected,” Christie said, looking at a mosh pit in the front, and people sitting around smoking.

“Yeah, but mosh pits can be good!” Tiffany said, pulling Jake towards it.

Tiffany and Jake started dancing. “This is more like Dirty Dancing,” Kara said to Tamira.

“Yeah, kinda,” She answered.

Christie and Adam went in the pit, while Tamira, Max and Kara sat and had a drink. “Feel like going in now?” Max asked, referring to the mosh pit.

Kara nodded half-heartedly, because she didn’t want to get lost in the mosh of people. They danced and bobbed around in the crown of people. The music was blaring so loud that even when people screamed to talk you couldn’t hear them. Some guy bumped into Kara really hard and she knocked into someone else then fell to the ground.

“Where’s Kara?!” Christie screamed as loud as she could. She and the others looked around.

Suddenly Adam gasped and leaned over and grabbed Kara’s hand as hard as he could and yanked her up. He could see her face scrunched up in pain so he put her arm over his shoulder and they all got out of the crowd and went back to the booth.

“What happened? Are you ok?” Christie asked, concerned.

“I was worried about getting trampled but instead I got pushed hard and twisted my ankle,” She explained.

“Yeah, it’s pretty rough in there. It’s worse that I expected,” Tamira commented.

“I’ll just walk it off,” Kara said, as she stood up, took one step and feel to the ground. Max helped her back up.

“I think it’s sprained. Maybe we should go home,” He said.

“No, no, it’s ok. You guys go have fun. I’ll get my mom to take me to the hospital later,” Kara insisted.

“No, you’ve gotta go now. I’m just gonna go say goodbye to someone and then we’ll take you home,” Christie stated.

Kara simply nodded. Christie came back and they all got in the car and went home. Kara ended up with a sprained ankle after she went to the hospital.

‘Great. What luck? Can it get any worse?’ Kara thought.

Chapter 3 (The next day)

Kara hobbled down the hall on her crutches to her locked, when Scott walked up to her.

“Hey Kara. What happened?” He asked.

“The club was rough last night. I have a sprained ankle, but I’ll be ok soon. I’m a fast healer,” She explained to him.

“So it must have been a drag last night? Is it good I didn’t come?” He wondered.

“Well it was fun until we got in the mosh pit. You probably would have had fun. I feel bad. I mean we had to leave early because of my stupid ankle,” She said, with a frown.

“Oh well, safety first right?” He said. Kara just smiled and nodded.

“Sorry I gotta go,” Scott said, walking away towards a tall blond girl waving at him, smiling.

‘Oh great. I like a guy that’s taken. I’ve gotta forget about him,’ Kara thought to herself, turning back around. Kara grabbed her backpack and slipped it on her back, grabbed her math books, closed her looked and hobbled down the hallway. As she turned the corner she bumped into a popular guy in the school and both of them dropped their books.

“Oh I’m sorry,” Kara said, smiling and blushing.

“Oh that’s ok. It’s my fault. I’m clumsy. Sorry about that,” He said, smiling at her.

“What happened?” He asked pointing at her ankle.

“I sprained it at a club last night,” She explained.

“Ouch!” He said pausing, then smiling, “My name’s Ryan.”

“My name’s Kara,” She said.

“Wanna get some lunch before class?” He asked her.

“Sure,” She responded.

The two of them went to the cafeteria and talked. “I love football. My goal is to be team captain this year. Do you play?” Ryan asked.

‘Ew I hate football,’ Kara thought.

“Um, no, I don’t mind it but I like basketball and volleyball,” She said.

“Oh, cool. You should try football. It’s fun,” He mentioned.

Kara nodded and smiled and silently thought, ‘Not a chance.’ “So, this is your first year here right?” He wondered.

“Yup. It’s pretty cool here. Lots of nice people I’ve met here,” She stated.

“There is now,” He replied staring at her.

“Wanna walk to class now? Don’t wanna be late,” He continued.

They walked to class talking. “So maybe I’ll see you around, soon,” Kara said, hoping she’d see him sooner than soon.

“Yeah sure,” He answered.

“See ya,” She said.

“Bye,” He said back.

Kara went and sat at her desk. All she could do was think about Ryan. ‘At lease I don’t have to think about Scott non-stop anymore,’ She thought.

Chapter 4 (One week later)

“Hey Kara, what’s up?” Christie asked, when she showed up at Kara’s house.

“Nothing,” She said, smiling.

“Nothing huh? You look like something’s up,” Christie replied.

“Well,” Kara muttered.

“Don’t make me beat it outta you,” Christie joked.

“It’s Ryan Thomas,” Kara started to say.

“One of the most popular guys in school!” Christie exclaimed.

“Yeah, well I bumped into him last week and we started talking and then we had lunch together,” Kara gushed.

“Sounds like you gotta crush on him, big time,” Christie said.

Kara blushed and nodded. “But I could have sworn you had a thing for Scott?” Christie stated.

“Scott. No, I dunno where you got that idea,” Kara lied.

Christie shrugged her shoulders and walked into the living room. “So when’s the first date?” She asked.

“We’re not dating,” Kara insisted, “Yet,” She giggled.

“Well we’d better get to school. Hey you’ll probably see Ryan,” Christie said.

When they got to school they were greeted by Scott. “Hey what’s up?” He asked.

“Oh nothing really,” Christie answered.

“Why so quiet?” He asked Kara.

‘I wonder if that was actually Scott’s girlfriend before,’ Kara thought in a daze.

“Hello?” Scott said. Kara shook her head, “Yeah sorry,” She replied.

“What were you thinking about?” He wondered.

“Oh, nothing. I’m just tired,” She answered.

“Me too. Oh her! There’s Adam. I’ll see you guys later,” Scott said. Christie went off to see a friend, so Kara went to her locker. Kara could hear Scott’s voice from around the corner.

“I dunno man. I just don’t know if I’m ready for a relationship,” Scott said.

Adam replied, “But I mean that girl was cool. She asked you out. Go for it!”

“Yeah she is but I dunno, I just can’t,” Scott said.

“Ok it’s up to you. There must be someone that you like. Just wait for her,” Adam said.

‘Oh my gosh! I can’t believe it! That wasn’t his girlfriend!’ Kara freaked, thinking to herself.

“Hey,” A voice behind her said.

“Hi,” She answered turning around, to see Ryan standing there.

“I was wondering if you’d go to a movie with me tonight,” He asked, smiling.

‘I like them both. Scott wouldn’t like me. Does Ryan?” She thought.

“Sure,” She agreed, hoping to think only of Ryan, but still thinking about Scott.

“Great. I’ll pick you up around 7?” He wondered.

Kara nodded, “I can’t wait,” She said.

Chapter 5 (At the movies)

“I love action flicks, don’t you?” Ryan whispered, during the movie.

“Actually, I don’t,” Kara said being honest, “I like comedies.”

“Jackie Chan is like, my hero,” He continued to say.

Kara made a face and said, “I prefer Jim Carrey.” “What?” He replied.

“I’ll be back,” Kara said, getting up to use the washroom, as Ryan’s eyes were fixed on the screen.

As she turned the corner, Kara bumped into Scott. “Hi,” Kara blushed.

“Hey, what movie are you seeing? Who’d you come with?” Scott asked.

“I came with a guy named Ryan. We’re seeing some action movie. It sucks,” She answered.

“Ah, I don’t like actions. I like comedies,” Scott replied.

Kara smiled and said, “Me too.”

“Cool. Let me guess? Ryan likes the movie?” He asked. Kara nodded, “I hate it.”

“Well ‘d better get back to my movie. Adam’s here. We thought it would be cool. Well, have a good time,” He said.

“Thanks, bye,” Kara replied.

Kara went back to her seat but Ryan didn’t even notice.

(Meanwhile)

“Hey, Kara’s here,” Scott said.

“Really?” Adam said, “Where?”

“Watching an action movie. She’s on a date,” He said, making a face.

“Cool,” Adam said.

“Yeah, cool,” Scott muttered.

(In the other theatre) As the movie ended…..

“That was so cool, didn’t you think?” Ryan stated.

“Actually no. I hate action movies,” She said, in the lobby.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” He said, loudly.

“I did. Twice, but you were caught up in the film, ignoring me,” She answered.

“Excuse me?” Ryan said with an attitude.

“Um, ok, maybe I should go. I don’t think we should go out anymore,” Kara calmly said.

“Well that’s rude. I should have known you only wanted to go out because of my popularity!” He yelled, causing everyone to stare at them

Kara with tears in her eyes, “I did not.”

“Yeah right. It’s losers like you that want to date popular guys to not be loser at all,” Ryan exclaimed, as he got shoved forward.

Ryan turned around to see Scott standing there. “Shut up!” He yelled.

“Excuse me?” Ryan demanded.

“You heard me. She’s not a loser! She liked you. God knows why, but she did. So just leave her alone,” Scott yelled, defending Kara.

Ryan backed away, and stormed off. Scott hugged Kara because he could tell she was upset.

“You ok?” He asked.

“Yeah, thanks,” She said.

“We’ll take you home,” He said, walking ahead.

“See ya,” Scott and Adam said when they dropped her off.

“Bye,” She said, waving, staring into Scott’s eyes as they drove away.

‘I love Scott, I know I do. He’d never go for me. He thinks of me as just a friend,’ Kara thought.

Chapter 6

When Kara got to school the next day she told Christie and Tamira what had happened the night before.

“He really told Ryan off?” Tamira asked.

“He must like you,” Christie said.

“No, he likes me as a friend,” Kara said.

“But do you like him?” Tamira asked.

Kara was quiet and looked down. “You do!” Christie exclaimed, “I knew it!”

“You’d make a cute couple,” Tamira insisted.

“Come on. This is real life. We’re just friends,” Kara replied, closing her locked, “I’ll see you guys later.” Kara went to the water fountain when she heard Scott’s voice again, so she peaked around the corner. “What do you mean you like someone?” Adam said, confused.

“She’s an amazing girl. I’ve liked her for a while but I just didn’t know if I should say anything. I just love her,” Scott gushed.

“You said you weren’t ready for a relationship. You changed your mind about that girl?” Adam asked.

“No. The reason I didn’t say yes to that girl is because I just love someone else,” He explained.

“Who?” Adam wondered.

Kara ran down the hall. She couldn’t bear to hear anymore. She ran home and up to her room and slammed the door. A tear rolled down her cheek. The phone rang and Kara answered it.

“Where did you go? I thought we were all gonna study together? Scott’s here,” Christie said happily.

“I, uh, had to go,” She said softly.

“What’s wrong? You coulda asked him out today,” She said.

“No. No! He doesn’t like me. I heard him! He likes someone else!” Kara yelled, crying.

“Who?” She asked.

“I don’t know! I just can’t go near him! Not now,” Kara freaked.

“Ok, well if you change your mind, he just left,” Christie informed her.

“No, I’ll see you later, bye,” Kara said, hanging up.

‘Poor Kara,’ Christie thought.

Chapter 7

Kara lay on her bed crying until she heard a knock on her door. “Go away!” She yelled.

“Kara?” A voice said.

Kara wiped her eyes and got up and opened the door to find Scott standing there with a bouquet of roses in his hand at his side.

“Oh my gosh Kara! What’s wrong?” Scott asked, concerned

“Nothing,” She said, looking down.

Scott lifted her chin and said,” Here, these are for you,” holding the roses our.

“Shouldn’t those be for the girl you like?” Kara blurted out.

“What? They are,” Scott answered.

“What do you mean?” Kara said, with tears pouring down her cheeks.

“You’re crying,” Scott said, taking her hands.

“These are for you,” He said.

“But, I heard you say that you love some girl?” Kara confessed.

“You heard me?” He said.

Kara nodded, “Give them to her.” “But I love you!” He exclaimed, smiling.

Kara smiled and said, “What?” “I said I love you! You’re the one I love! Don’t cry for me,” He replied, excitedly.

“But..(pause) I love you!” She exclaimed.

Scott wrapped his arms around Kara tight and said,” Don’t be sad, don’t cry.” “Now they’re happy tears,” She whispered, letting go to look at him.

“I love you!” She blurted out, throwing her arms back around him, hugging him so tight and not letting go.

“Finally. I’ve been keeping my feelings in since we first met,” Scott admitted.

“But you didn’t like me then? You wouldn’t dance with me, but with the other girl and I was going to ask again but you left?” Kara said, confused.

“I know. I was shy. I didn’t want to fall in love because I’ve never believed in love at first sight,” He said, pausing, “ But now I do.”

Kara smiled. “That’s why I said no to some other girl and why I never stayed to talk for long,” He confessed, “But I had to tell you. Now this feels great,” He continued to smile, then leaned in and shared a long kiss.

(The next day)

Scott walked up to Kara, Christie, Adam, Max and Tamira and held Kara’s hand. “Um!” Christie said, astonished, “Did I miss something?”

Scott kissed Kara on the cheek, and said, “Not much,” He smiled. “You 2 are going out? How did that happen?” Christie exclaimed, happily.

“I told the truth,” Scott said.

“Which is?” Christie answered.

“I love her,” He replied, looking into each other’s eyes and sharing another kiss.

“Like she said, cute couple!” Christie stated.

“We’ll be together forever,” Kara said, smiling, hugging Scott tight.

“Forever,’ He repeated.

The End
