“Chip Off the Old Block”

 

The idea that one’s offspring is just like his elder’s ...

This is a true saying in the plant kingdom, animal kingdom as we read in Gen.1:11-12 , Gen. 1:24-25

 

This is true in the spiritual kingdom as well.  Hatred begets hatred.  Wrath begets wrath.

The seed of a Christian is the word of the kingdom which is the Gospel of Christ.  Those that are born of this seed are chips off the old block - Christ.

 

Are you a chip off this old block?

 

Every seed that God does not plant shall be rooted up. - Teaching, doctrines and commandments of men - Matt. 15:12-14

 

God is spoken of as a rock in Deut. 32:4.  Are you a child of God?  Then you are a rock like He is.  Christ is the chief cornerstone.  Eph. 2:19-22

Christ said in Matt. 21:42 “Did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner; this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?”

 

Are we a chip off Christ?  If so, then we must be like him.  He went everywhere preaching, loving - having compassion - helping all he saw -teaching the truth.

 

Let us not be like the Jews who drank of the same spiritual rock but fell because of lust and unbelief.  ICor. 10:1-6

 

We are to be lively stones and not dead rocks without life.  IPeter 2:3-12
