Exercise Yourself

Today as we ride down the road we a likely to see someone running, walking, for exercise.

Exercise is good for the body and soul.  By exercise, you can lower your anxiety and depression.  With exercise the body releases chemicals that help to reduce stress and anxiety.

1 Tim. 4:6-8

We need to exercise our selves in Godliness, and refuse old fables and wise tales.  What I mean is that we need to practice doing what God has said.

We had to exercise to be able to write our name and drive a car.

…Consider driving a car…

We need to exercise showing compassion… Compassion does for love what running does for the lungs and heart.  … Jesus had compassion on the multitudes and so he fed them; he had compassion on the blind man and he healed him.  We love by doing, and we do because we have compassion.

Mat. 20:29-32

We need to exercise our patience, that we can temperance or endurance and thus be complete.

Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

We need to exercise our faith by praying to God and then trusting in him.

Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Some times we need to fast as well as pray.

Mt 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Ac 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

When was the last time we spend a day in fasting and prayer?

Fasting will exercise you in self-control and denial of self for God’s sake and a worthy cause.

Doing this will make you stronger and increase you faith toward God and your prayers.

James 5:13-20

We can exercise our self in joy by rejoicing in the Lord and praising him.

Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

We need to exercise and practice Humility that we might obtain gentleness and meekness.

James 4:6-10

We need to exercise our faith that we will have the peace that Christ offers.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Phil. 4:4-7

We need to exercise in reading the Bible … it is God’s will to us.  In it we find the Gospel revealed to all who would seek it.  2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

We need to exercise, practice taking the Gospel to others that we may be able to bear fruit.

John 15:1-8

We need to exercise our senses, understanding that we can discern good and evil.

Heb. 5:112-14

Finally hear what Paul wrote.

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We need to exercise and make sure our calling that we will not be barren nor unfruitful, and will not fail.

2 Peter 1:2-10
