Hate Sin     -     God hates sin.  Know why?

Sin makes us ashamed and separates us from God.  In the Garden when man sinned they were ashamed and hid themselves from God.  Sin destroys and corrupts what God created.

Ge 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  6 ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

God destroyed the earth with water because he hates sin in man!  He destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because he hate sin.

Ge 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

He destroyed the cities because of fornication.  All sexual interaction outside of marriage is sin.  God hates it!

Ezr 9:6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens

Pr 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. 36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

God hates sin because of what it does to us.  Sin cannot be in the presence of God and it destroys what God created.   It destroys our relationship with God.

Jesus Christ hates sin.  It is the reason he died on the cross.

Ro 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

1Pe 3:18 ¶ For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God,

We can understand why Christ hates sin.  If sin caused you to suffer like it did him, you could easily understand.  He calls Christians to hate sin also.

Lu 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

God hates sin, Christ hates sin and we should hate sin. It separates us from God.

Isa 59:2-5

Christ cleansed us of our sin.  He washed us with his own blood of our past sins.  Now in Christ God hears our prayers.

Ro 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Now in Christ we are to live a LIFE OF PURITY; Romans 12:1-2. Not that we do not sin but we are called to live without sin.

1Jo 2:1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: Romans 6:1-2

We are to hate sin -  hate it so much that we mortify or put it to death.

Ro 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Col 3:5 ¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

When we or some else do things to us that we hate it hurts.  When we sin, it hurts God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost!  When we sin it certainly should hurt us.  It should hurt a Christian’s heart deeply.

Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

A Christian can do this to Christ when they openly, willing sin and do not hate themselves because of the sin.

Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Paul hated his life because of the sin in his life and We should be of like mind.  Remember Christ said, …hate… his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Romans 7:15-25

Don’t you hate it when you sin.  Don’t hate yourself when you sin.  I know I do – it hurts.  (it is killing the spirit of God in you)

Romans 6:11-16

Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
