His  People

Mt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus came to save his people.  Not everyone but those who belong to him.

John 3:12-15

Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

He was lifted up and he draws men unto him – his call is to all men but not all will come.

Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

His call has gone through out the whole world.

John 3:16-18

Notice the “should”

Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

We should obey him … we should obey our parents … do we did we?  Certainly we all should obey Jesus Christ but not do nor will they.

Ro 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Romans 5:6-11

Jesus Christ died for all but not all obeyed and not all received the grace and atonement.  He paid the price for all.  But not all responded to it.

1 Peter 3:18-21

Ga 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Those who are baptized become his people … they are his!

Acts 22:7-16

Notice that Saul was not saved on the road!

Hear – Isa. 55:3; Believe -  John 8:24; Repent – Luke 13:3; Confess -  Mat 10:32; Baptized -  Mark 16:16

It is in this process that we become his. When we believe we are given the power to become the sons of God

Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Rom. 6:3-4 &17-18

What shall we do if we have been baptized and we sin or are fallen away?

Ac 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

Acts 8:18-24

This agrees with what James and John wrote.

James 5:16-20

1Jo 1:8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

John 5:14-17  Mt 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Jesus came to this earth to die for our sins … He loves to forgive that what he is about.  He wants to forgive … He rejoices in it.

Lu 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

But to receive forgiveness we must forgive.

Luke 17:1-10

We must also forgive others and ourselves … it is a command from God.

Rom. 8:31-33
