Rev. 2:1-5  This  Church in prophesy is the 1st church:  Notice they tried them that said that they were apostles and are not.

 

Notice that they left their first love... the gospel of Christ.  Remove the candle stick light of the Church.

 

Christ said "go into all...:(Mat 28:18) & Mat. 10:32-33

 

Have we left our first love.

 

Rev. 2:6-7 .. Nicoliatians - were as I understand to be followers of Nicholas a man of this time who felt that a christian could also eat in idol worship.  The idea is that of comprising christianity with that of the world.

 

REv. 2:8-11  This is the second stage of the Church in history.  During this time persecution from Roman Government.  Prior to Diocleatioan Roman Government sought to stop Christianity by destroying the shepherds of each congregation.  Then during his time for 10 years Romans tried to completely abolish Christianity.  They burned manuscripts and attacked all followers.

 

Rev. 2:12-17 Next in Church history Constintine came to be the Emperor of Rome -- Made Christianity the religion of the Roman empire.  destroyed pagan worship -- During this time Pope (archbishop) in Rome declare superior to all --

Do we have this doctrine today and also that of the Nicolaitans?

 

Rev. 2:18-29 Thyatira Church ... during the dark ages ... Patience ... Jezebel ... pope

Ahab & Jezebel tried to cut off prophets of God  When Ahab died she took over to rule the kingdom.  Set up false worship - that of Baal.

 

Rev. 3:1-5 Church during the renaissance & reformation time when the world began to rebel against Papal rome ..  Probably lasted down to the time of Campbell and Stone.

 

During this time many churches were formed trying to reform the Catholic Church.  Martin Luther did not want Church named after him- but they did it anyway. This is the time also of Calvin...

 

Campbell and Stone did not want to reform the existing church but rather to restore the 1st century church.  Speak where the Bible speaks.

WE tolerate to error of Balaam in the Church ....

Tolerate to the idea of the Nicoloitans for we tolerate sin all around us .... TV"S worldliness ... worldliness in the church..

 

We tolerateJazebel and those who say they are jews and are not because we do not enter into battle against them.

 

We are afraid of being strong or of coming on too strong.  Why???

We might offend!!!!

 

Verses 17&18 again   Building ect ... our works are not the right kind.....

 

 1Cor. 3:13-14 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.  14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
