Nature of the Church

Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

Ro 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  17 ¶ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Ro 8:29 ¶ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

God the father, Jesus Christ the first born son, and us the other children.

We are commanded by God and Jesus Christ out Elder brother to love one another, as a special family of God.Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another  35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1Jo 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.  9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.  11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

The Church is a Kingdom with Jesus Christ as the King!

Mat. 16:18-19

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

This Kingdom is what will be delivered up in heaven to the Father by Jesus Christ.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.  25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.  26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

The Church, the Kingdom of God are the saved!

The Church is the body of Christ, with Christ Jesus as the head

Eph. 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

The Church is a building, the house of God with Jesus as the conner stone.

Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

The Church is a Kingdom, a Family, a Building, a Body compose of all types of people.  People from every race, every nationality, every sex, young and old, rich and poor, the are joined together to from the Church.

Eph. 2:11-22

Ga 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Col. 3:10-13

The Church is organized with Elders (Bishops), Deacons, members (saints).

Php 1:1 ¶ Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Qualifications are given for Bishops (Elders) and deacons.

All baptized believers are members.  1 Cor. 12:13

Titus 1:5-7 & 1 Timothy 3:1-13

A Church without elders and deacons is a church that is wanting and lacking in development.  They appointed Elders in every congregation.

Ac 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

For the church to be properly structured it will have Elders and deacons who lead and tend to the flock.  This is Bible and it is scriptural and spiritual.

The elders are to feed (teach), take the oversight, and shepherd the flock.  God holds them accountable.

1Pe 5:1 ¶ The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;  3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The members are to summit to the elders.  Just as a wife is to summit to her husband.

Heb 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

The church assembles every 1st day of the week (Sunday) to participate in communion.  This is purpose of the church coming together on Sunday.

Ac 20:7 ¶ And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

The breaking of the bread which they did is the communion.

1 Cor 11:17-33 (23-26)

While they were there they had preaching(teaching), singing, praying, and they took up a collection.

One cannot join the Church, they are added by God as it pleases him. 1Co 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
