Songs to sing: Into our hands(90);Hold to God’s unchanging hand(3346);

Time is running out

The Bible teaches that Adam and Eve had a choice in the Garden of Eden.  The indication is that if they had eaten of the tree of life they would have lived forever.

Ge 3:22 ¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Man had a choice and the choice that he made limited everything.  Every thing about us is limited, even life itself.

We read scriptures such as;

“Ps 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.  11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.  12 ¶ So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom “,

and are deceived in to believing that we have 70 years or better.  Not only this but the deception is extends into believing that this world is forever and that death is many years form now.

Luke 12:16-21 - Farmer

The truth is everything is limited in duration.  Just as this day, everything you can name of this world’s goods will only last a season.  For something to last longer, it has to be renewed from time to time your home, car clothes, food even physical life.  Even spiritual life has to be renewed.

1Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.

Ro 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

I have no yesterdays, time took them away.

Tomorrow may not be – but I have today.

Yesterday is like water under the bridge it cannot be brought back nor can it be changed.

2Sa 14:14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Yes we plan on tomorrow but tomorrow may not be, we need to live today as if it were our last for it may be.

Time Our time is of limited duration.  We are given just so much, that is it.  We cannot make any more.  As sure as we live we are running out of time.

  Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Col 4:5 ¶ Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Song – redeeming the time – Time don’t run out on me.  I have much to do, I haven’t done yet, these things I need to do – I must do – I have to do.  But I need time, time don’t run out on me.

Joshua asked God for time to stand still –

Jos 10:12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.  14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

This is going to happen again and it will not happen for us.

If I preach I haven’t preached the perfect sermon or funeral yet

If I sing I haven’t song the perfect song yet.

If I pray I haven’t prayed the perfect prayer yet.

I haven’t found all your will yet Lord.

I need more time.

Jer 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

What is the meaning here.  Time is running out, are we saved.

Hezekiah – 2 Kings 20:1-11

He prayed a perfect prayer. It was perfect because God answered.  He had something to offer God that was not of this world, earthly, or of a material nature.  Not prestiege or popularity, not money or anything money could by – It was righteousness.  He had it and God recognized it.  That is all that mattered then and that is all that matters now.

2Ki 18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

He had a perfect heart.

God has given us time – do we plan our time wisely

Time is running out what do we need to do to be saved?

What do we need to do to be saved?

Confess and Repent of sin.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Obey the Gospel?

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Have you obeyed?

Believe – Heb. 11:6; John 8:24

Repent – Luke 13:3; 2 Peter 3:9

Confess – Mat. 10:32; Rom. 10:10

Baptized – Acts 22:16 – 1 Peter 3:21
