Neptune

Neptune is 4,504,000,000 km from the sun. It's diameter is 49,532 km and 1.0247e26 kg in mass.

Neptune's temperature is -353 degrees F. The origin of Neptune's name means god of the seas.

The surface of Neptune is 15% hydrogen and a little helium with various ices and rocks. There is most likely a small core about the mass of Earth of rocky material.

Special features include a blue color which is the result of absorption of red light by methane in the atmosphere. Neptune has rapid winds confined to bands of latitude and large storms or vortices. The winds are the fastest in the solar system reaching 2,000 km per hour. It's most prominent feature is the Great Dark Spot in the southern hemisphere.

It has 8 satellites including Naiad, Thalassa, Despina, Galatea, Larissa, Proteus, Triton and Nereid.
