Here are some touching poems written by and for

sailors and their families.

The Navy Wife's Prayer

Dear Lord, Give me the greatness of heart to see

The difference between duty and his love for me.

Give me understanding so that I may know

That when duty calls he must go.

Give me a task to do each day

To fill the time he is away.

And, Lord, when he goes out to sea

Bring him safely home to me.

From a USS Scout Wife

My mind is filled with thoughts of you;

My heart is filled with love so true;

Although my love we are far apart;

You are ever near within my heart;

While you are away keeping our country safe;

I sit and picture your wonderful face;

I think of our times together in the past;

And pray the time you are gone goes fast;

You do your job and stand so proud and tall;

Making sure the Statute of Liberty shall never fall;

May the winds be fair and the seas the same;

One thing you must know our love will remain;

The day will come when you are called to duty no more;

When you will return to our door;

I will be here for as long as it takes;

And my love for you will always remain

Written on the 19th day of January, 2003,for my wonderful husband, Andy

With all of my love,

Beth

For Andy

As the bombs start falling

And the war does start,

My thought for you come from the heart,

May God be with you,

And hold you in his hands,

May he always protect you and keep

You safe from harm, until you return

To my loving arms.

When the day comes and the war is no more

And your ship sails home to our shining shores Upon the pier,

You will find me my dear.

Until that day comes,

Know that I am always near,

For even though we are worlds apart,

Please now I am there my dear,

For I am within your heart.

Across all the mile of sand and sea,

Please know my love will always be,

For the love I hold for my sailor,

Deep within my heart,

Will never allow us to drift apart,

While you make your stand

Far away from our homeland

Know that the home fires burn

Ever so true for my one and only,

My only you.

To Cassie

Love Is but a treasure that two people can enjoy.

Love is from the heart and not from the eyes.

Without love in this realtionship,

we would not have what holds us together.

For the only thing I know is:

I Love You

Love Forever,

Your Loving Husband, Michael

Got Your Back...

I am a small and precious child,

my dad's been sent to fight.

The only place I'll see his face,

is in my dreams at night.

He will be gone too many days

for my young mind to keep track

I may be sad, but I am proud...

My daddy's got your back.

***************************

I am a caring mother.

My son has gone to war.

My mind is filled with worries

that I have never known before

Everyday I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.

I may be scared, but I am proud...

My son has got your back..

***************************

I am a strong and loving wife,

with a husband soon to go

There are times I'm terrified

in a way most never know.

I bite my lip, and force a smile

as I watch my husband pack.

My Heart may break, but I am proud...

My husband's got your back.

***************************

I am a Soldier Serving Proudly, standing tall.

I fight for freedom, yours and mine

by answering this call.

I do my job while knowing,

the thanks it sometimes lacks

Say a prayer that I'll come home...

It's me who's got your back
