“Amen”, have you heard the word? Some people pronounce it “aw-men”, here in Southern Illinois you will hear it pronounced “A-men” or “A-man”. What does it mean? Is it just a word in the Bible? Is it what the pastor says at the end of a prayer?
Amen is a Hebrew word that is used to express solemn ratification or hearty approval and conviction, so be it or so it is. Amen is firm, trustworthy, surely and faithful. It is a final act and a true and faithful witness.
Amen is used as title for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; (And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;) Revelation 3:14 KJV
Amen is of course used at the end of a song or prayer as in Psalm 89:52 (Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.) Or in the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:13 (And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.)
The last book of the Bible ends with these 2 verses in the 22nd chapter of Revelation; 20. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Shout it, sing it and use this word to worship, exalt, exclaim, and proclaim the one and true living God and his only begotten son, our lord and savior Jesus Christ. AMEN!
