Dear Daddy

I saw you standing there alone in the corners of your mind,
Journeying to a place far away in the mind set of your dreams. Standing there knowing the children that you loved were gone, never to return.
Your eyes glazed over suffering your silent scream.

Do you ever dare dream again about what would've, should've, could've been,
Then you break the silence with a sigh.
Do you ever pray to God to forgive your troubled heart it's trespasses.
Do you ever wish to be released from all past demons and sins?

You set your dreams of rose petaled graduations,
and giving your daughter away in marriage.
You think of all the times they could've come to you when
they fell and scraped their little knees, falling from their doll carriage.

A million times at least you go through their questions of why Daddy why? Why did you leave us all alone Daddy, why?
In your head you can hear their soft, sobering crys.
But you don't even have a clue of what you should do even as hard as you try.

Time has grown old,
And our father Time has let twenty years pass by.
But still in your head you can hear their haunting, soft, sobering cries, Of why Daddy, Why.

So you set out,
Trying your best to make things right now that they are grown.
You find some are receptive, but with the questions still there,
But still you find that most now want to just be left alone.

What could've went so wrong,
That could allow their hearts to grow so cold?
That could allow such lonely days,
With no child left to hold?

Just look towards the light before you there,
There is one little ray of light in the form of a child.
I've been standing here waiting for you Daddy, did you think I'd leave you all alone?
What took you so long, I've been waiting on you for a very long while.
