Our new private, straight from AIT, got schooled on how to take an exhaust sample.
My name is SGT Baker, I will be your primary instructor on how to take an exhaust sample on a M113 APC.
Place the bag over the exhaust, fill it up, and quickly tie it.
Just like all good privates, PV2 Barksdale seeks advice from his NCO.
SGT DeWitt from 1/63 MST helps him out by ripping his bag. He then had to take another sample.
PV2 Barksdale fills out his paperwork prior to turning in the sample to motorpool.
This event lasted a few hours. PV2 Barksdale took the sample to motorpool. He then went to shop office to recieve his results from SFC Delgado. Barksdale then had to use a test strip to test the exhaust. He had to hold it over the exhaust for two minutes. Afterwards he took that to SFC Delgado, he was informed that his engine was bad and to report back to the team. PV2 Barksdale was then informed that there is no such thing as an exhaust sample. He was a good sport!
