Glitz and Shine Shoppe

Welcome to my "cyber" jewelry shoppe. One of my vices for many years,
has been collecting rings. As finances allowed, the rings went from
silver and costume to gold and fine gemstones. As the years passed,
I began to design some pieces. As the kids grew up, I began to get
gifts of jewelry and one time, had a child say to me, "Oh, you
like that bracelet better" with a sigh. Thereafter, I put each piece
on and didn't take it off. Consequently, I began to develop a habit
of wearing several rings and bracelets. With that came the glitz,
glitter and gaudy that many people identify with me.

I would like to share with you some of the pieces I have designed. It
is my fondest desire to learn metalsmithing. Most of these pieces, are of
my design. The Black Hills Gold necklace is made from 2 bracelets, and
3 pendants. The gemstone is lab grown Alexandrite, 30 carats. It is a
100% color change stone, ranging for hot bubble gum pink to Amethyst
to a Teal Green. The color of the stone depends on the light source.

These pieces are among the best of my collection and are not for sale.
The green ring is carved emerald leaves with a half carat of diamonds
scattered among the leaves. The large Amethyst framed by the necklace
is a 100 carat stone surrounded by 2 carats of prong set diamonds.
The smaller Amethyst in the corner is 30 carats with a carat of
diamonds bezel set. The large Lapis(blue) ring is one I designed
the mounting too. It was designed for a large opal; it is surrounded
by bezel set black opals, Black Hills gold leaves and wire work.
About the 3rd day I had it on, I smacked a door handle and that
was all she wrote for the large pinfire opal; it broke into 3 pieces.
So I had to have a piece of Lapis Lazuli cut to fit the mounting.
The multiple small blue stone ring is also Australian black opal
doublets which are sturdier because the opal is protected. The
garnet ring is from the Victorian era (no I didn't design it). It
is very large and the stones are Rodalite garnets; the mounting is
rose gold and very ornate with a lot of filagree work. The lighter
purple stone is a 35 carat Kunzite surrounded by small prong set
amethyst accent stones. The long white stone is Angelskin Coral; it
is carved floral and pinker than scan shows. Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Designing rings is substantially cheaper than buying from a jewelry
store. There are many places that you can purchase loose gemstones
such as television auctions; although the best channels are only
available on a large satellite dish and are in Knoxville, TN.
If you have a local jeweler, he will probably let you shop in his
ring mounts catalog. They usually have several and as long as they
will be setting your stone(s), they are happy to have your business.
Check it out, you'll be glad you did and have fun!! I know I do.
