Stuff and Such

Welcome to my "cyber" home here in what is truely the last best place
Montana. If you like peace, tranquility and scenery not to be believed;
this is the place. No rat race here, except for summertime; when the
tourists arrive. There is no place for fast pace, career driven people
as wages are low. Our biggest industry is tourism; most jobs are service
related and minimum wage. Winters can be tough and summers toasty.
Montanans are a hardy lot, both the native and the transplanted kind.

I've been married almost forever or at least since I was a very small
child. We have 3 grown children who are all in their money making mode
and scattered across the country.

Our favorite grandniece Cortney and grandnephew Jon.
Our pride and joy and the reason that we had children so that we could
have grandchildren to dote on and spoil. Presenting Zachary Wayne and
Kaitlyn MacKenzie.

I have been collecting carousel horses for several years. This
carousel is located in Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio. It is an
original. I am fortunate to have in my possession, this black
armoured charger replica. I collect mostly limited editions and
try to get music other than the "Carousel Waltz". I also keep an
eye out for black, palomino; colors other than white. If you
are fortunate enough to be near a San Francisco Music Box
Factory store, you can get some amazingly good prices. Always
check for the lowest number available if you're buying a limited
edition horse. For Christmas this year, I received a full size
replica wooden carousel horse. He is amazing and brown to boot;
He guards the collection in the livingroom.

A Modern Fairy Tale

I have an elderly friend who is housebound and a voracious reader and I
have been keeping her in paper backs for 6 years or so and it was my custom
to do a "Nikki" run every other week. My husband took over the job 2 years
and also would do odds and ends for her around her house which was a rental
with a slumlord who was very slow to respond to her needs. A year ago, part
of her ceiling fell in due to poor roof repair. It took several weeks and
several phone calls to get a grudging response from the landlord. Upon
repairing the ceiling, he immediately raised her rent by $100 a month.
Nikki is in a wheelchair and is a bilateral amputee and in her 70's and
very independent living alone with no family.
Lance got on his trusty charger and began looking for a more suitable
rental for her; none was available that would suit wheelchair accessibility.
This went on for 3 months; Nikki had lived there for 12 years. Lance saw
an article in the paper about low cost housing coming to Livingston under
the auspices of HRDC. He made an appointment and talked to the woman in
charge about Nikki's situation. The woman pondered a while and then said
"Why not?" 8 months later, reams of paperwork and legalities and running
around, jumping through hoops; Nikki is now the proud owner of her very
own 3 bedroom handicapably accessible duplex with a fabulous view of the
mountains for $50 less than she was paying in rent for the shack. The
contractor made many modifications for her wheelchair. A miracle has taken
place because of the efforts of my husband and HRDC Caren who said "Why not?"
I am seriously proud of him and share this fairy tale with you; there
are still happy endings when dealing with the bureaucracy.

the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow.""

one of them is not necessary."
