wiping a tear from her face
he moved
across the border that
separated them
away from her
the ring he wore was
the same as hers
it spoke of a vow
a promise
he held up his hand
the ring flashing in the
light
and then the sudden glow drove
them completely
apart
it was quiet then
except for her tears
she found herself embracing
nothing
a promise of forever
a promise of truth
a promise of stability
a promise of love
gone
gone
and she raised her eyes to
the man who stood there
instead of him
her brother
tears still falling from her
eyes
she met his gaze squarely
“This book was not a book of magic or dangerous,
oniichan...
It was the best book I have
ever read...”
