Comics 2002
review
Held in Bristol on the 1st/2nd of June 2002
Loads of stalls, some bargains, some talks, lots of creators, some publishers and a good turn out from the small press community!!!
The wonderful weather unfortunately meant that the venue was transformed into a pressure cooker. Many people had to leave the self publishing talk early due to the swealtering heat. In the main section there was a queue of rotund fanboys bitching at the refreshment stand. Andy broke R2-D2 (see picture). Leonie got a great Terrorfish sketch.
Great to see so many small press stalls, all very friendly and with a very high standard of work.
If you didn't get to go, make sure to book your tickets for next year (held in May).
Following on from the comics convention on Saturday was this event. We had a small stall at it. The Kochalka puppet theatre hurt themselves to music in their sublime style. Much fun was had by all. The bands were really good, and the projected visuals were excellent too (at one point Jimmy Corrigan was spliced with mickey mouse, surreally beautiful.) Lovely t-shirts on sale for the cube cinema, where the event was originally to be held, but it is still undergoing repairs.(Get well soon)
