Turn off that horrible shrieking noise. In Windows 95, go to "Control Panel"
and choose "Modems." Choose the modem that your system uses and then click
on the Properties button. Next, click on the "Connections" tab, and then the
Advanced button(A). Add a zero to the end of the letter(s) or number(s) in the
"Extra Settings" field. If there are no letters or numbers in this field, try typing
"atm0" (atmzero) without the quotes(B). Then click "OK."......This will effectively
silence your modem, no more high pitch shrieking when conntecting to the net!
If the above method doesn't seen to work for you try this:
Go to the "Control Panel" find "Modems", double click "Modems" this will launch the "Modem Properties" window. Click the "General" tab and then on the Properties button. Slide the speaker-volume control all the way to the left. Click the "OK" button.
