Taxride Confessions

They've already had a big hit with their catchy tune "Get Set", now Melbourne foursome Taxiride go into overdrive with their debut album "Imaginate" and new single "Everywhere You Go". They chat to Santi...

Why did you call your album Imaginate?
Tim Wild:
It's actually a lyric from the first track on the album, "Can You Feel", and it was a nice way to sum up our collective thoughts on this record.
How often do you guys have arguments?
Jason:
You're a bloody idiot, Dan! (laughs)
Dan:
We have our good days and our bad days.
Tim Watson: We don't really get angry with each other, but if one of us is working full-on, non-stop, we might get pissed off.
What's the funniest taxi ride you've ever had?
All:
Brisbane!
Tim Wild: We rocked up to do a shopping centre appearance in Brisbane and they shuffled us into a cab and it drove us inside the shopping centre!
Jason: We also had this female cab driver in New York once who looked like Judge Judy, and as soon as we got into the taxi she floored it! We're freaking out and laughing and she looked like she was going to pull out a piece (gun)!
Have any of you ever been mistaken for another famous person?
Tim Watson:
Yes. While we were in America, I was standing next to the tour bus wearing a hooded top, baggy pants and I had really short blond hair, and these guys screamed out, "Hey, Slim Shady!" They thought I was Eminem.
Tim Wild: Jason gets Sugar Ray or the guy from CDB!
Tim Watson: Another time, Jason and I were in a tattoo place in New York and this Australian guy served us and asked if we were in a band. Seconds later he goes, "Aw, you guys are Savage Garden!"
A year ago, the first issue of Big Hit came out - what were Taxiride doing then?
Tim Wild:
We were actually in New York recording our demo to "Get Set".
Jason: And that very version is available as a B-side on our new single!
