John Augustus Hitchman

In Gentleman Magazine we find under Obituary of Remarkable Persons, these words:

"In Gloucester Place -- Mrs Hitchman, relict of the late John Augustus Hitchman of the Island of Jamaica"

Again we find:

"In Hollis St Cavendish SQ -- Miss Hitchman, daughter of the late John H Esq. of Jamaica"

In October 1800 we find the will of Amelia Hitchman which states:

"In Parish of Marylebone £1000 to John Augustus Hitchman Esq. brother & one of the next of kin."

This will was proven Apr 1799

• Will made 17 Aug 1799 in the city of London
• Will proved 22 Jun 1801
• Captain in 4th Regiment of Foot
• Estate left to David Grant Esq of Kingston, in the Island of Jamaica
