Have traced my family back to John Hitchman and Elizabeth Lodge ca 1760 of London. My great grandfather was Alfred Hitchman B. 15/2/1840. He married Ellen Angell on 24/ 9/1864. They had 9 children:

Mary Ann B. 1865 married Jack Deag 1886
John Alfred b. 17/2/67
Elizabeth Ellen b. 1871
Alfred Arthur b. 10/5/1868 ( All children went into care) Eva,Elsie,Alice,Olive,Elizabeth Alfred
George Thomas b. 7 1874 married Mary Ann Hobley 1896
Ernest James b. 14 /12 1876 married 1. Salomie (May) Wilkins 1905 2. Harriet Ransom 1921
John Mark b. 30/4/1879 married Louise Mary Edwards 1902
Ellen married Harry Hayes
William Alexander b. 1883 married Esther
My grandfather was Ernest James Hitchman who married twice.

I am intersted in finding out any information about his first wife, Salomie, and as whether they had any children. Also would be interested to find out about the children of Alfred Arthur, all of whom were taken into care.

Interestingly, the daughter of Alfred's brother, John Thomas Hitchman b. 1843, caroline mary Ann Hitchman was married to William Richard Hardy on the 2nd January 1889 in Christchurch cathedral, Falkland islands.

I am trying to trace decendants/relatives of Aubrey Sylvester HITCHMAN born 1918 in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Deceased 16th November 1999 He came to the UK in the late 1950's and settled in Manchester. He has 3 sisters all of which are still living in Jamaica and 1 brother Victor HITCHMAN who also came to the UK residing in London - deceased sometime in the 1970's. Aubrey HITCHMAN has 4 sons Roy (Florida) Dorrell (UK) Colin (UK) and Trevor (Jamaica) and 1 daughter, Claudine (UK) all of which are still living.

We would appreciate your help in contacting any other relatives or decendants or identifying a link with any other lineage.

I have an Ann HITCHMAN in my ancestry. She was the second wife of my gggrandfather, William ADKINS. Ann was born in 1812 in Bloxham, Oxford, and died about 1897. She married William Adkins about 1854 in Bloxham. They had three children: Elizabeth, baptised 17 Sept 1854(55); Thomas Henry, baptised 26 Oct 1856; Catherine, baptised 30 Nov 1859.

All I have is a marriage of Joseph Hitchman on 29 July 1852 in St Paul, Warwick, Warwickshire, England to Rachel Keen [b 1831 the sister of my g-g-grandmother, Hannah Keen]. The marriage certificate states that he was the son of John Hitchman.

My wife's 4th. GGP were Alexander McCREADY (1770-1803) and Elizabeth FRYE (1774-) who lived in Mt. Pleasant Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA. They had 3 known children: Margaret m. Samuel BLAKE, James, and Elizabeth (1800-1864) m. Robert HITCHMAN (1792-1872) (my wife's 3rd GGP). Robert's father William HITCHMAN 1759-1834 m. Ann Nancy GILLESPIE, born 1765 in Cecil Co., MD. His HITCHMAN grandfather was born in England and as a British officer deserted to the American side during the Revolutionary War.

Looking for information on an Alice HITCHMAN who married Thomas WILKES of Sibford Gower, OXF on Dec 4, 1823, in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, England. Possible birth date for Alice HITCHMAN is c 1801, died 1875. Alice may have had a sister named Elizabeth. Some members of the HITCHMAN family may have been married into or witnesses at the weddings of these Oxfordshire families: STURCH, WILKES, ARIS, SIMSON, SWEATMAN. Looking for John Hitchman ca 1810 with unknown spouse. Their son was Joseph Hitchman married 6 Oct 1851 to Jane Bewick. Their son was Walter John Thomas Hitchman who emigrated to the USA in the 1860s.
