National Commemorative Day
on 25 April
Each Australian City holds a Dawn Service in remembrance of  those who died.
Then a parade through the city centre of War Veterans, Representatives and Armed Forces
The Anzacs were the combined forces of soldiers from Australia & New Zealand who went to fight in Gallipoli. These biscuits were sent to our troups and were eaten in the trenches Today the day commemorates each & every Australian who served or died in any war.

' Lest We Forget '

Anzac Biscuits


1 cup rolled oats 2 tablespoons (40ml) boiling water
¾ cup coconut 1 cup sugar
1 cup plain flour 4 oz / 125g butter
1½ teaspoons bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) 1 tablespoon (20ml) golden syrup or use simple syrup OR dark corn syrup 

Combine rolled oats, sifted flour, sugar & coconut.

In another dish
Combine butter & golden syrup, heat in microwave until just melted
mix soda with boiling water, add to butter mix

Stir into dry ingredients
Spoon dessertspoonsful onto greased baking tray allow room to spread
Bake in slow oven 20 minutes,
loosen on trays while warm, then cool on trays
makes approx 3 doz
