Well, it's been awhile since word got around about anything on this site. Now, there's info on Kayla coming from 3 different sources. The main thing being relayed, is that she set a record for career points (2,521) Monday, November 20. All this while only being a Junior at Brockton High School in Montana. She's still got the state tournament and then another full season next year to add on to her career scoring stats. She also set records for single season scoring (928) single game scoring(66), and single season scoring average (42.2) this past season.

Kayla Lambert

Montana hoops star scores 65 points

From wire reports

Brockton High School sophomore Kayla Lambert broke the Montana girls' single-game scoring record Saturday (October 16th?, 1999) with 65 points in the Warriors' 85-57 basketball victory against Fairview.

She hit nine three-pointers and went 2-for-4 at the free throw line.  Lambert was averaging less than 40 points (Before this night).

The previous record was 59 points set last year by Lisa Woods, an exchange student from Australia who played at Turner.

(Story from USA Today)

This story about Kayla Lambert comes from "The Sidney Herald."  It was written on October 6th, 1999.  Ten days before she scored 65pts.

Watching area teams and players has always been interesting and exciting.

Players of different sizes with different skill levels always promote the controversy, "who is the best player?"

I have seen many players from our area who were excellent high school athletes and went on to be very good college players.  Shannon Cate from Billings Central, Lori Payne of Havre, Cummings from Malta, Lowman and Huffman of Sidney, Kinzler and Norby from Fairview, and Brooks from Glendive and Livingston are a few that come to mind.

In the small community of Brockton, there is a young lady that has everyone talking.  Sophomore Kayla Lambert has the sports world buzzing with her talents on the basketball court.

In 30 games as a varsity player Lambert has scored 1000 points.  Her average points per game is an astounding 44.2.  Once this year, Lambert has scored 50 points.

Several teams have devised a defense with two people guarding Lambert all the time.  Smiling all the time, Lambert was able to score 33 and 38 points for both wins.   Several people sitting in the stands have made the comment, "we don't believe she's a girl because she plays too good."  Many people have made the same comment since she was a fifth grader.

With long arms and anticipation to know where the ball is passed, Lambert has stolen the ball for lay-ins and then stolen the inbound pass for another score.   She drives the opposition crazy trying to figure out where she is and ends up turning the ball over.  No matter what the opposition does, Lambert effects the game.

The opposing coaches have decided there is no answer to defending Lambert.

After watching other teams try defending her the coaches throw their hands in the air and say "forget that strategy."   Brockton hasn't won every game, but Lambert has given everyone a taste of watching an excellent basketball player.
