The Courier Mail - Sep 14 '99 Noel Mengel Rumours of trouble in Pumpkin-land have proved accurate with the announcement that bassist D'Arcy has left the band. The word was that D'Arcy had been hardly sighted during sessions to record a follow-up to Adore. Guitarist James Iha had switched to bass, making up a trio with guitarist/songwriter Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, welcomed back to the fold after being fired in 1996 over his drug use. Rolling Stone reports that sources close to D'Arcy said that she had wearied of Corgan's "dictatorial" ways and had threatened to quit during a tour in April. There is no word of a replacement, but the new album is set for a February release. Recovery (magazine) - Oct 99 The Smashing Pumpkin's bass player D'Arcy has announced she has left the band. The news comes not long after the return of drug-disgraced drummer, Jimmy Chamberlain, into the fold. The Pumpkins have finished work on their new album, due for release in February 2000, and have issued a statement saying, "The Smashing Pumpkins will continue as a band and will tour in support of the new record."
