I don't want people to think I'm whinging and I don't want people to feel sorry for me, I couldn't give a s***. I just wanted to be honest."
Rolling Stone, May '99

Daniel : "That's one of the things I actually find funny. It's strange that all these people expect to wake upon the first day of the year 2000 and have spaceships and things flying past their windows. In reality, they are going to wake up to a big anticlimax. The only thing that'll be different is that every computer in the world is going to be f*****d!"
Metal Hammer, Mar '99
Daniel : "I found my dog in a garbage bag along with some dead puppies. There were three that were alive, so I took her home, fixed her up and now she lives like a queen. With animals it is different to when you're with people, as animals don't like you because you've got money or because they can get something out of you. They either like you or they don't and they can feel love a lot more. You don't have to tell them that you love them - they can just feel it and they know it. Me and my dog are best friends."
Metal Hammer, Mar '99
Daniel : "If I was fanatic about it, how could I be in the same band as two of the biggest meat eaters on the planet? But I support the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. As I said, I'm not fanatic or anything, I support them as good as I can, I think everybody should, and sometimes I address the subject in a song."
Circus Magazine, Jul '99

Ben and Chris are enourmously alike - they have the same interests and the same view of the world, whereas I'm very different. But I respect them y'know. They're my friends. Our temperaments are at odds with each other but that's OK. We complement each other, which is the essence of silverchair."
'Strictly Ballroom'
Daniel : "I don't think that I'm 100% cured. That would be naive to think that, but I'm definitely on the road to being cured. Definitely a lot better than I've been in the last -- my state of mind at the moment is better than it's been in the last two or three years."

Ben : "He started signing and because the music's so freakin' loud and he doesn't exactly give us a lyric sheet I didn't even know what they were until we got the album. But I was surprised that they were so personal. He never usually opens up about things, he's very private."

Then, as soon as that band comes on, they start to crowd surf, get carried over the punter barrier and have to walk back out into the middle of the crowd before the band even gets to its second song. That's dedication."
Juice, Nov '99

Chris : "Yeah, he (David Helfgott) was very affectionate. He would always hug you and he was always trying to kiss you...I don't think, unless he was sitting at the piano, that there were many times he was just standing by himself. He always had to be near someone. But it was cool - that's what he's like."
