(IF YOU KNOW THE TOWN, CLICK CUSTOM SEARCH > FHL CATALOG > PLACE SEARCH > VIEW FILM NOTES. THIS WILL SHOW YOU WHAT RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR TOWN. USE THESE MICROFILM NUMBERS TO ORDER THE FILMS FROM YOUR LDS LIBRARY. YOU CAN ALSO LOOK UP YOUR ANCESTORS BY NAME ON THIS SITE, BUT DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED IF YOU DO NOT FIND THEM.
- WHEN THEY COME IN, RETRIEVE THEM FROM THE FILE CABINET BY FILM NUMBER AND LOAD THEM ONTO A MICROFILM VIEWER.
- GO TO A YEAR YOU SUSPECT ONE OF YOUR ANCESTORS WAS BORN, AND LOOK UNTIL YOU FIND THE RECORD. (MOST ARE INDEXED AT THE END OF EACH YEAR)
- HAVE THE LIBRARIAN MAKE A COPY FOR YOU.(.25¢ PER COPY)
- BOAT RECORDS- GET THE
SOUNDEX CODE FOR YOUR LAST NAME BY TYPING YOUR LAST NAME IN THE BOX AND HITTING ENTER.
- ORDER THE MICROFILM BOAT INDEX FOR THAT SOUNDEX CODE.(GET THE NUMBER FROM THE BOAT BOOK)
- WHEN THE MICROFILM COMES IN, FIND THE INDEX CARD ON THE MICROFILM FOR YOUR SOUNDEX CODE, THEN LOOK ALPHABETICALLY FOR THE FIRSTNAME OF YOUR ANCESTOR UNTIL YOU FIND THE CORRECT INDEX CARD.
- COPY ALL THE INFO INTO YOUR NOTEBOOK AND ONTO THE ORDER CARD AND ORDER THE CORRESPONDING FILM FROM THE BOAT BOOK.
- WHEN IT COMES IN, FIND YOUR ANCESTOR BY SHIP, PAGE NUMBER (G), AND LINE NUMBER (L).
- CENSUS RECORDS
- FOLLOW A, B, AND C ABOVE IN #9,
EXCEPT CHOOSE THE STATE AND LOOK IN THE CENSUS BOOK.
- FIND YOUR FAMILY BY STATE, COUNTY AND SOUNDEX CODE.
LIKE THE BOAT MICROFILM, YOU MUST ORDER THE INDEX FIRST AND THEN THE ACTUAL CENSUS.
