The lights of Chicago shimmering on Lake Michigan

Mid West garage consists of bands from Michigan, Illinois and Indiana.   The so called "Silent Majority" shouting it out.  Keith Evevett defines the attitudes of the mid west in the 60's with 'Conscientious Objector'. The lead song on mid west garage 'Searching' is quite possibly the finest example of the genre.   Opening with traditional garage fuzz guitar with the lyrics "Searching, searching for love" then racing through the first verse and chorus screaming into a very smooth organ solo.  Followed by the second verse and chorus that screams into a searing fender guitar solo.  Recorded by the 'Omens' in July 1966.  The Omens were formed in Hammond, Indiana which borders with Chicago's South Side.
