MICK JAGGER - EXPOSED

Mick Jagger - Exposed

Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger (born 26 July 1943) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor, best known as the lead vocalist and a founding member of The Rolling Stones.  Jagger's career With the Rolling Stones has spanned 50 years, 1962 - 2012.  In the mid 80's Jagger signed a solo recording contract that caused tremendous friction within the Stones and very nearly broke up the band.   However, for the fans, the music is fantastic.

In 1985, Jagger released his first solo album She's the Boss produced by Nile Rodgers and Bill Laswell, featuring Herbie Hancock, Jeff Beck, Jan Hammer, Pete Townshend, and the Compass Point All Stars.  It sold fairly well, and the single Just Another Night was a Top Ten hit.  An uptempo dance album that featured a great sense of humor.  Primitive Cool, released in 1987, was much darker with songs like Peace For the Wicked, War Baby and title track Primitive Cool.

Wandering Spirit, released in 1993, is the jewel of the collection.  With the title track Wandering Spirit Jagger defines his image (separate from the Stones) as the Wandering Spirit, lover of women, wine and song.  Really, really miss my sweet thing says it all.

Needless to say, Wandering Spirit is my favorite stones...ah, er, I mean Mick Jagger song!

Released in 2001, Goddess In The Doorway continues with the minstrel theme.  Mick uses six different producers.  The bulk of production, Visions of Paridice, Dancing in the Starlight, Don't Call Me Up, Everybody Getting High & Too Far Gone was by Marti Fredericksen & Mick Jagger.  Matt Clifford on Joy, Goddess in the Doorway & Gun.  Lenny Kravitz produced God Gave Me Everything, Wyclef Jean - Hide Away and Chris Potter on Lucky Day & Brand New Set of Rules.

My favorite verses from Joy:

Oh joy love you bring
Oh joy make my heart sing

And I drove across the desert
I was in my four wheel drive
I was looking for the Buddha
And I saw Jesus Christ

He smiled and shrugged his shoulder
And lit a cigarette
Said jump for joy
Make some noise
Remember what I said
