Upon knocking on the door, Jeanna wasn't sure if anyone would hear them, because the music was so loud. But she tried anyway.
Knock, knock, knock, knock.
"Hello, is anyone gonna answer this door?" she said to no one.
Finally someone answered. It was a tall light haired fairly good-looking man, she recognized him as Neil, their road manager.
"Can I help you ladies?" he asked them.
"Yes, we are here for the party," Jeanna said.
"Um, I'm sorry, ma'am, you must be mistaken," he told the two girls, then closed the door.
Very frustrated, Jeanna knocked again.
"Yes, ladies, what do you need?" he asked them.
"I'm sorry to bother you sir, but we were invited to this party." Jeanna told him politely.
"Ok, well let me check for you."
Just as he was about to check, Paul spotted them at the door, and immediately went over to them.
"Hello ladies, I'm so glad you could make it!" Paul said in a very excited tone. "Come in, come in. Would you like something to drink?" said Paul.
"No thank you," Jeanna said, as she surveyed the room.
Across the room, she finally spotted who she was looking for; John.
She wasn't quite sure if she was seeing things right, but she could swear that he was looking at her already.
Is it my imagination? she thought.
"I'd like to introduce you to one of my very best friends, Paul, this is Julia, Julia, this is Paul," Jeanna said.
"It's very nice to meet you , Paul." Julia said shyly.
"Yes, likewise." he said.
Jeanna still had the feeling she was being watched, while at the same time, someone was watching her.
"I know that girl." John said aloud.
"What did you say?" the bubbly blond asked, trying to get his attention.
"Oh, nothing." he told her.
That's the girl from the concert! John thought. She must be here with Paul. he thought.
He watched them trying to determine what was happening between her and Paul, but it was hard to tell.
Paul showed the two girls to the bar, and asked Jeanna if she'd like to dance; of course she accepted.
By this time, John had abandoned the group he was entertaining, to make his way over to meet Paul's friends. Just before he made his way across the room, Paul had already swept the girl onto the dance floor.
Jeanna was quite taken by surprise that Paul wanted to dance with her. But she was happy anyway, though she'd rather be dancing with John.
When John finally got to the bar, he found Julia sitting alone.
"So, what are ye drinking, luv?" John asked the lone girl. "Scotch and coke," Julia replied.
"My name's John, what's yours?" he asked.
"Julia," she told him.
"Aah, Julia, a very pretty name. Are you here with anyone?" he asked, knowing the answer.
"Yes, I'm here with my best friend, she's right there." she said dryly, pointing to the couple in the middle of the room.
Much to her and John's discomfort, they were dancing pretty close.
"So, she's here with Pauly then?" John asked, trying to keep a cool tone.
"I don't know, I guess, I had no idea if he asked her as a date." she said bitterly.
"Well, well, why are we so cold?" John asked the scowling girl.
"I just kind of had the idea that it would be a group event, not a couple," she said sadly.
Julia had always liked Paul, and was very upset she hadn't got to talk to him.
"Yeah, well, would you like to dance with me then, love?" John asked.
"Oh, that would be very nice," she replied.
So, John took her out on the dance floor. Quite funny it was though, they both made sure they could see the other couple in question.
"Aah, I can see what your doin', love," he said with a sly smile.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, taken by surprise.
"You've got a thing for our Pauly here, don't ya?"
"Well, I was kind of hoping that..." she trailed off.
"Ah, well don't worry love," he said patting her on the back.
"Look at you!" she said, noticing him staring at Jeanna.
"What?!" he asked, embarrassed.
"You like her, don't you?!"
"No, never, why would you say that? She's with Paul!"
"Because I can tell by the way you're lookin' at her! Do you remember her at all?" Julia said.
"I did recognize her a little," he lied.
"She's the one that won the tickets on the radio last week, she was in the front row last night," Julia told him.
"Ay, I remember now, she was standing right in front of me face!" John told her trying to hide his excitement.
"I'm tired of dancing, John; let's get a drink, this is getting us nowhere," Julia told him.
All the while, Jeanna was watching them, relieved they had stopped dancing; she was letting her jealousy take over her.
"Oh, alright."
"So, did she say anything about Pauly then?" he asked, watching the other couple the whole time, trying not to let the jealousy show.
"Of course not, Johnny, you've always been her fave!" Julia told him excitedly.
"Wha..?" He was confused.
It seemed to him that she hadn't even given him a second look all night.
"Yeah, she's always liked you, couldn't you see that last night at the show?"
"I just thought maybe she was just enjoying the show." he said, very stupidly.
"Ah, come off it John." Julia told him laughing at him.
After the dance was over, Paul and Jeanna made their way over to the bar where Julia and John were sitting. ( Very drunk might I add.)
"Oh, how was your dance, little Pauly?" John asked in an agitated voice.
"John, you're sloshed, aren't you?" Paul asked.
"Only as shoshed ash a drunken sailor!" Julia slurred.
"So, Pauly, who's the bird you got there?" John asked.
"John, this is Jeanna, Jeanna, this is John." said Paul.
"It's very nice to meet you, John." Jeanna said nervously, holding out her hand to shake his.
"Ah, yeah chicky, very nice to meet you!" John said wiggling his eyebrows, and leaning over to kiss her hand. Unsuccessfully, he toppled over onto her, and managed to drool on her arm.
Jeanna was to say the least, very startled. Here she was on the floor, trapped under John, while the whole time, she thinks, Well, I wouldn't mind this too much, hehe!
She looked up to see Julia laughing harder than ever, and Paul trying to get John up off her.
He finally got him up, and John could barely stand on his own.
"Time for bed Johnny." Paul told him.
"Whatcha gonna do Pauly, leave your guests here all alone with the vultures?" John said, barely audible, waving his hand at the party guests.
"Here, I'll help him to bed, you stay here and take care of Julia for me, ok?" Jeanna said.
"Ooohh, yeah, you takes me to bed, and yous stay here! Hee hee haha." said John.
"Don't worry, I'll hurry back," Jeanna said.
