Got to Get You Into My Life, Ch. 9 Chapter Nine

On February 11, 1965, Ringo and Jenny exchanged vows. Later Joey found out that Jenny was pregnant and that's why they got married. Joey couldn't believe it. Her sister was going to have baby and Joey was happy for her. By February 22 they had started filming the movie in the Bahamas.

The girls were sitting outside a beach cottage sunning themselves.

"This will be the last time you get to wear a bikini for awhile, Jenny." Joey said.

"I know. I'm gonna get fat!" Jenny exclaimed.

Joey closed her eyes and felt the sun warming her face and body. She fell asleep and when she felt cool drops of water on her, she thought if was part of her dream. When she felt a whole bunch of them her eyes flew open to see Paul shaking his moptop back and forth with droplets dripping down on to her bare midsection. She screamed as the cold water cascaded down on her.

"Oh, you're in trouble now, Macca," Joey grinned.

"Oh yeah, sure I am. Can't you tell I'm scared?" Paul teased.

Joey ran after him and chased him into the water, splashing water in each other's faces until they both dissolved into laughter.

Later that day while Paul was relaxing on one of the hammocks. Joey turned on the sprinkler and it drenched him from head to toe. Joey laughed as Paul tried to untangle himself from the hammock.

"Hey, Paul, here's a bar of soap. Why didn't you just take a shower?" John laughed. Everyone else laughed too.

"Ha, ha you're just so funny." Paul said frowning, but he wasn't really mad.

After turning off the water, Joey handed Paul a big beach towel to dry off with. Next came dinner and a little bit of television after that. Bored with the movie that was on, Joey walked outside and stood in the sand just far enough away from the water so her feet wouldn't get wet. The moon was full and it made the caps of the waves look whiter than normal. Soon Paul came up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and stood facing the ocean with her.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" he asked.

"Yeah," she answered.

"Just like you," he whispered.

She felt he was going to kiss her and Joey tilted her head back, expecting it.

"Joey, I have something to tell you." Paul said. "I didn't say anything before because I wanted to be sure."

Joey's heart dropped thinking it could be something bad.

"Wh…What is it?" she asked.

"I...um...I love you." he finally blurted out.

Joey looked into his brown eyes with flecks of green mixed in and surely the shock of his words must have shown on her face. She turned away from him.

"I don't know what to say." she said over her shoulder.

"Well, do you love..." Paul started.

"Yes. You and no other." Joey moved back to the security of his arms. They both looked out at the moon shining on the water. Joey smiled to herself and snuggled into Paul's arms even more. They walked back to cottages that no longer had lights on signaling that everyone had gone to bed.

"Joey, if you sleep in my bed tonight, I'll hold you all night long and I promise I won't try anything else." Paul said sincerely.

"Okay, I will," Joey consented.

With Paul's arms securely around her, she fell asleep and had dreams of only Paul.
