When the Legends Die
John Brown

We all watched the greatest hero fall with all his dignity and grace
Against a huge organless creature with bones from feet to face

We all heard as the band cancelled so short before the show.
Waiting and wanting and lusting and praying, in the end it was a no go.

We thought our schools were just like homes away from dear, sweet homes.
But now it is just a place where fascist dictators roam.

We loved that person with all our heart and knew we always would.
She scarred our heart and broke our souls and now we wear a hood.

We knew people always liked us and thought that we were neat.
That first time we left the house alone, we got knocked flat on our seat.

All these legends came and all these legends died.
But the most sacred legend snapped when I knew I was why mom cried.
