A DREAM COME TRUE

The M.A.F.A Second division league began on the 16 Oct '94, when we played Paola Wolves, the final result was a 1-1 draw. Things started off well when we scored early in the game but the Wolves managed to get an equalizer. It happend to be a disappointing start to the season.
For the rest of the league, we brought two foreign players, Ali Tawerghi and Nasser Ben Rahil from Libia, both had their debut vs St Julians where we won 3-0 and Tawerghi had his name in the score sheet. Naser scored in the next game vs Valletta Stars and we won 3-0, Charles Cuschieri scored a beauty of a goal back then.
Tigers were constantly winning, infact we managed to beat Hamrun Red Devils 8-1 with C. Cuschieri getting a hat-trick.
The last three games of the first round against Floriana Ajax, Hamrun Samra and Burmarrad, Tigers scored four goals in each game; C.Cuschieri scored his 150th goal for the club. Here we ended first round as Champions.
We were expecting a tough second round, each team trying to stop us from winning, but beutifull football being played from our players we won our first two games with identical score of 3-0 against Paola and St Julians. The next two games vs Valletta and Hamrun Samra, our goal machine stopped and we only managed a 0-0 draw against these teams. With these results Hamrun Samra came closer to us at the top of the table. There was the need to start winning again and so we did as we defeated Floriana Ajax 3-0.
A DO OR DIE match against Hamrun Samra was to come next......
It was the 9th April at 1pm, both teams marched to the pitch in front of a good attendance of supporters. The game was close where the indications at the end were that it was going to end in a 0-0 draw, then a possibility of a championship decider between both teams.
BUT two minutes from the end, Tigers won a free-kick for a foul on Tawerghi, from same free-kick Muscat with a curl shot to the corner of the net, opened the score in favour.
Though the referee gave a lot of injury time, we still managed to control the game to a DRAMATIC win of the M.A.F.A second division title.

Hopefully we will play in the highest division for the rest of our club's story.
